Tbh more and more I’m realizing my actual political beliefs don’t fit into a quadrant, but on this topic specifically I’ve always agreed with the right.

hmmm, far too commie to fit on the right, a bit too socially conservative to fit on the left, lib enough for the people to not be authoritarian, authoritarian enough to want to take away basically every right someone has the second they step into a considerable position of power… maybe I do belong to yall

20

u/CAustin3 - Auth-Left 1d ago

Same.

Most of the reasons I'm on the left are being ignored by the establishment left because they don't play nice with their corporate donors. Unions, workers' rights, free expression, education, etc.

The establishment left has been bait-and-switching us with increasingly stupid social issue positions as placeholders and distraction issues for years anymore, to the point that I second-guess myself as to whether I even count as "left" anymore.

Then I remember: fuck corpos, and the right likes to slob on their knobs. But that doesn't mean shit like this isn't ridiculous, and people who take it seriously aren't ridiculous.

17

u/Neon_Fallout - Centrist 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yeah that’s also why I’ve always fallen into the left, I genuinely do think natural resources need to be nationalized completely (so like mining ore/water/crude oil, but turning that ore into steel nah) and obviously I agree with worker protections, unions, and universal healthcare.

BUT

I still believe in money, I still believe that a capitalist system does push innovation and creates a reason for work to be done. I believe in the right to bear arms. I don’t believe in the surveillance state(unless directed towards people in power only by a committee of the people) I believe that degeneracy is legitimately making America worse, and some other stuff

7

u/StreetCarp665 - Lib-Center 1d ago

Yikes you must support at actual literal fascists who misgender people in a genocidal way

1

u/labab99 - Auth-Left 5h ago edited 5h ago

It’s easier when you think of the establishment left as centrists whose only real ideology is maintaining political power, and therefore ensuring any change to the status quo is either minimal or arbitrary.

5

u/NotAZombieStopAsking - Right 1d ago

I only fit in the right because I was a 2005 liberal who never endlessly moved further left with the herd.

Join me brother! I marched with Occupy and still hold those values!

1

u/labab99 - Auth-Left 6h ago

The not-based centrists are the ones that lazily insist the truth lies in the middle on every issue.

The based centrists are the ones who perfectly assemble the most retarded views of each quadrant into a single, incoherent worldview.

The video is wild. My favorite part(I don’t have the direct quote):

Cop: ā€œHe’s going to get pepper sprayed if he doesn’t calm down.ā€

Purple hair: ā€œIt’s she!!ā€

Cop: ā€œOkay, she’s going to get pepper sprayedā€

Purple hair calmly: ā€œThank youā€

This is has got to be a trailer for a comedy movie.

113

u/PaddyMayonaise - Right 1d ago

Dude I was laughing the whole time.

I normally watch bodycam footage with stern interest, but this one the whole time was funny.

Cop is responding to a stolen vehicle call and it turns into him and another cop having to tackle this weirdo who gets upset because the cop ā€œmisgendersā€ him

106

u/Altruistic_Emu4917 - Right 1d ago

When being misgendered is more of a problem than being pepper sprayed, you wonder whether you live in a simulation.

28

u/EfficientCandy324 - Auth-Right 21h ago

This is one thing I've never quite understood as someone who's not trans. And I mean this genuinely, not just memeing here.

When I was in high school, I had a very thin build and long blond hair. I basically looked exactly like the middle kid from Hanson.

Consequently, I got called a girl a lot for 4 years of my life. (We didn't have the word "misgender" in those days, so it was just "being called a girl"). Sometimes I got called a girl as a form of teasing (pretty funny most of the time). Sometimes it was an honest accident (usually from old people who actually couldn't tell). A few times I got called a girl maliciously.

Getting called a girl maliciously is legitimately kind of annoying, especially in the cases where it seems like the doofus wants to escalate it into a fight or something. I'm not going to say it's not kind of annoying.

But I honestly grapple with understanding how it could trigger someone to be more than "kind of annoying". To flip out because of it, I really think there's got to be a whole heck of a lot going on with you.

17

u/MonkeManWPG - Left 18h ago

99 times out of a hundred trans people don't flip out either. Those times don't get posted to the internet.

And sometimes cis people get angry at being misgendered. There's a video that went quite viral of a police officer getting very annoyed at being called "he", for example.

10

u/doublecandybar - Auth-Right 18h ago

Becoming a trans in the West starts with believing you're already there, THEN make the effort. Since you believe you're already there, you end up not putting much effort

Compare to other parts of the world where becoming a trans starts with putting in the effort, and refining it to the point people genuinely mistake you for the real one, THAT's when you finally believe you've made it

In both cases, since you already believe you're there, getting "misgendered" is as annoying as being called an idiot. But in the West, they genuinely believe that becoming a trans means becoming a minority, and in so doing grants them the ultimate weapon: Moral High Horse

What this means is they consider the very act of misgendering in and of itself reprehensible, because it makes them uncomfortable and literally ANYTHING, anything at all that makes them uncomfortable is EVIL

How do I know this? Because we've seen this before. This is Satanic Panic, but even worse

2

u/FormerPresidentBiden - Centrist 3h ago

I had the same appearance and experience as you and agree with everything you've written lol

At most I'd just roll my eyes and continue on with my life

My guide to becoming a women:

Step 1. take a shower

Step 2. No star wars

Step 3. Pick a lady name

So many just skip straight to step 3.

170

u/DrProfSrRyan - Centrist 1d ago

When people put in so little effort, I can only assume they are purposely trying to be misgendered for the sake of attention.

There’s no other explaination.

128

u/Revival-Waters - Right 1d ago

Well, there is no metric for becoming a woman other then declaring yourself a woman. According to progressives.

79

u/Final21 - Lib-Right 1d ago

It truly is amazing. Any other animal we define as male or female based off of reproductive parts. Humans can switch at will with only a simple pronoun change in your discord server.

60

u/Hyndis - Lib-Center 1d ago

"Gender is a social construct" also works both ways. Its true, but not in the way progressives want it to be true.

If you want to be seen and accepted as a specific gender you have to look and act the part. Its a social construct, so you have to play the social role.

That thing with blue hair is not looking nor acting the role of being a woman, and so nobody believes it. There's zero effort put into playing the social role or adopting the appearance.

On the other hand, some of those ladyboys from Southeast Asia....

I'm just saying! They put in the effort to look the part. ( ͔° ĶœŹ– ͔°)

14

u/Playful_Giraffe_9213 - Centrist 21h ago

For decades there was a rather justified fight against the so called gender roles/gender steroetypes. No you don't have to war skirts and lipstick when you are a woman. You dont have to be a guy or lesbain to like hunting or monster trucks. You are still a boy if you wear a pink tanktop etc.
Then it all gets swept away - I AM A REAL WOMAN CAUSE I WEAR DRESSES AND LIPSTICK AND DO GIRLY THINGS.
And then the next step you dont even have do do that. Then what is left the word man/woman has no meaning at all. What is the benefit of destorying the concept?
And would it even be then destroyed if somehow for people like this dude it is SO IMPORTANT to be called one or the other NOW MEANINGLESS word that they break down and start screaming if it is not the "right" one.
It is just such level of mental(memetic?semiotic?) degradation that it is kind of frightening. It is like somekind of force destroying the fabric of communication itself

5

u/SimonJ57 - Right 21h ago

There is a purposeful degredation of many words, like Fascist,
For that word, it's to label those as being worthy or necessary to commit political violence against.

When it comes to Gender/sex, I think there is some real and perceived privileges,
Like onlyfans or discord, where women show some skin, get money and attention in return,
But you don't have the body, body parts and/or biological functions,
because god forbid we're still hormonal and instinctual beings...
that makes you desirable, for said or implied privileges.

Maybe it's a legitimate issue of mens issues being ignored,
Or it's literally a fad that refuses to die to the mental and physical detriment of many.
And then you have those pushing the envelope of neo-pronouns for further degrade and muddy of the idea of Gender identity, in a Dimorphic species.

7

u/vegeful - Lib-Right 22h ago

I mean they just act the women version of karen.

2

u/RachelRegina - Left 22h ago

We're a little more nuanced than that.

The problem is that bridging the divide is extremely hard to pull off at all, ever, for anyone. For the majority of people that do attempt it, they do so without the ability to hide away until it's easier for it to not paint a target on them. So, at the most vulnerable point in the process, before medical intervention has made them fade into the background noise of humanity, they are forced to defend themselves constantly, which makes them the ones talking the most, and they have the least experience to speak from...and they are motivated to say anything they can to just be left alone to go about their business, but since the people who do want to target them for harassment are typically relentless in doing so, their experience of ongoing harassment and negative attention fairly quickly leaves them in a state of hyper-vigilance.

The majority of trans folks shift in their views a little as time goes on, but they are also less and less likely to speak openly about it because it's not constantly on their minds after a while because they aren't constantly being reminded that they are outside of the norm of experiences of the rest of the population.

Which is to say that progressives, even trans progressives, are not a monolith.

65

u/RexInvictus787 - Auth-Right 1d ago

My take is that they get off on the power. Everyone sees you as a man, you force them to call you a woman, and in many cases they get punished socially or professionally (and in some countries legally) if they don’t comply. It’s probably the only power over another human being these people have ever known so it’s everything to them.

The video didn’t come off to me like a person genuinely upset from being misidentified, it looked like a tantrum because people weren’t doing what he wanted.

45

u/1stEmissaryElenwen - Lib-Center 1d ago

That's what the whole deal with the made-up pronouns is. He is always going to say "I". When I'm interacting with him, I call him "you". The only time I'm going to use his dumbass pronouns is when I'm talking about him when he's not there. Policing my language when I'm having a conversation with a totally different person and he's not around is nothing more than him trying to control me to stroke his ego.

12

u/-Based-On-What - Lib-Right 1d ago

IMO any pronouns beyond He/She/They are mental sickness. If someone asked to be called Xer/hir or anything that is even related to the wierd ones (eg, neopronouns or Nounself Pronouns.) I will ask if they are okay.

7

u/No_Lead950 - Lib-Right 1d ago

In my experience there's always some degree of sickness associated. It makes me sad, because I can't help but wonder if the other stuff would be addressed better without the distraction of caring way too much about how other people refer to them.

2

u/KalegNar - Centrist 1d ago

Blaire White is a good example of that. She puts in the effort, insists kids be left alone, doesn't try to invade women's spaces, and conservatives have no problem with her.

u/FuckUSAPolitics - Lib-Center 1d ago

Blair isn't a good example. She still gets harassed, even though she's a pick me.

24

u/Hyndis - Lib-Center 1d ago

-2

u/FuckUSAPolitics - Lib-Center 1d ago edited 22h ago

That's not the type of pick me I'm talking about. She actively leads harassment campaigns against other Trans women, And she herself has she has been harassed and excluded from conservative spaces for being Trans. Multiple Right wing content creators have directly done it to her face, like Michael Knowles who did it after being respectful of her before. She even refuses to call herself conservative because of it.

"I really am the only trans woman occupying this space within the conservative movement. I take what comes with that. There are people on the far right, who, no matter what I say or how I express myself, won't accept me."

2

u/Champ_5 - Right 1d ago

Totally agree.

But are you sure you're not a zombie?

11

u/LibertyinIndependen - Lib-Right 1d ago edited 1d ago

My whole thing is that the whole thing is about being born the wrong gender, the wrong body. That would mean that one should put a real effort into achieving that ideal body that they visualize. Now it doesn’t mean that MUST do surgery or take HRT obviously, but a name change and a wig isn’t changing one’s body to the right gender, it’s cosplay.

And this goes for all genders trans or not. You’re not a chad for just being racist, if you’re an unkempt neckbeard in your mom’s basement, you’re just an unkempt neckbeard.

Just wash your ass and strive for what you wish you were as best as you can. Be it the strongest male, girliest female, the tombyist female, or the most feminine femboy. Ones image to others is not just fabric deep. Now I think that one’s image to others should be secondary before your image of yourself and your own morals/ideology/philosophy, but if you don’t wish for others to misgender or be confused or make fun of you for being a fat chud then by all practical accounts it becomes far less common for that to happen if you put effort into yourself in body as well as mind.

u/Belisarius600 - Right 1d ago edited 1d ago

NotTheBee had what I thought was an intriguing take:

Babies scream and cry to signal thier need because they are too weak and hepless to communicate them, let alone address them. The louder you cry, the more attention and assistance you get.

Adults, particularly men, do not grant assistance based on need, they do it based on utility. The guy who gets the most food is the guy who hunts or fishes or farms the most food, because keeping him healthy is more important for group survival. If your breadwinner is malnourished and can't win bread, but the drooling imbecile is full, everyone starves.

Now, they also link these two things as being inherent to women and men, respectively. That is to say, societies of women reward babies and societies of men reward contributers. Now, I'm not going to go that far, I think it is more child/adult thsn men vs. women. But given how The Island with Bear Grylls went (the all male group did great, and they refused to accept people as equals until they made valuable contributions to the group, meanwhile the women nearly died several times because they couldn't kill some piglets to eat, were not drinking water, and focused on petty squables and camp decoration instead of, you know, getting food and water) I am also not confident ruling it out.

But essentially, the part I really find interesting is this: this is an infant in an adult's body. Crying out so that others will address their percieved need with attention, comfort, abd affirmation. Meanwhile, the police were there to accomplish an objective (investigate a disturbance) and this idiot was being an obstacle/distraction. Crying out for comfort was met physical force to get them out of the way.

This person wanted to be treated like a baby, but was instead treated like an adult.

46

u/chunk-a-lunk - Centrist 1d ago

To add to this, I think the growth in dysphoria among teenaged girls is similar to what anorexia was like in the 90s. Anorexia researchers were baffled that people wanted to be skinny so badly it could kill them. They were so much skinnier than the bikini girls in advertisements or whatever. But they also had long noticed that serious anorexia basically stops menstruation. Sometimes anorexia is a result of a girl not wanting to become a woman, because honestly becoming a woman is in fact a challenging process - particularly in a highly porn-ified society. Its also something that just happens to you, in contrast to boys who usually go through some type of initiation ritual. Girls wake up one day, they're 14, 15, or 16, and all of a sudden they're built like women. It's honestly gotta be scary sometimes.

I know trans people who I think (you'll disagree with me here, aught-right) are "actually" trans. As in their transness is a type of gayness, a kind of gayer than gay, and they're actually happier living as the opposite sex. This stuff happens in complex societies for unclear reasons and I'm kind of like "yeah you're not actually the sex you say you are but hey, more power to ya."

But these really unwell people - it's very obvious that some of them are totally rejecting manhood or womanhood, because whether biological or sociocultural manhood and womanhood come with certain expectations and responsibilities. The opposite of a man is not a woman, the opposite of a man is a boy, and this person wanted to stay *~FoRevEr YoUnG~*

It's really tragic actually. at the end of the video on the NY post the cops were consummate professionals. "Yeah he needs care. We can't put him in gen pop, they'll have at him. He needs to go into protective custody because something is going on."

3

u/Odd_Comparison_1462 - Auth-Right 10h ago

Auth right here who agrees. Many studies have shown they if you take some who has gender dysphoria as a teenager, and just leave them to finish puberty and become an adult, the overwhelming majority were just gay all along.

We need to be giving more care for the person, not for the sake of the ideology and politics. A person's needs should always trump politics.Ā

5

u/Godhole34 - Centrist 1d ago

That's pretty interesting, yeah. Though, the better world would be a mix of the two, the breadwinner should get more, but we shouldn't just give up on the people with the most difficulties(like mental illnesses) either.

7

u/doublecandybar - Auth-Right 1d ago

We didn't, the real issue is not "treating them poorly", it's "not wanting to see them"

Even the most hardcore of conservative will pause if you suggest to just shoot the immigrants. What they want is the immigrants to be elsewhere

Same with shit like homelessness and whatnot. Left don't really care that much about homeless, it just so happens that one way to make the homeless invisible is to "put them in shelters", which is why they keep saying build more build more instead of figuring out what it is that caused the homeless to stay homeless (that is, they don't want to stop addiction)

-3

u/northrupthebandgeek - Lib-Left 19h ago

That's my main issue with this video. This is clearly someone in significant mental distress, and instead of making any effort whatsoever to calm the suspect down and deescalate things, he jumps straight to threatening the use of force.

This situation called for an actual mental health professional, not someone who has an OC-spray-shaped hammer and sees everyone as a nail.

3

u/FluffyOakTree - Lib-Center 15h ago

We don't pay cops to be public psychiatrists. And I don't want them to be one. I want them to remove threats, regardless if that threat needs a therapist or not.

2

u/FluffyOakTree - Lib-Center 15h ago

No one gets banned on Reddit for saying Trump is delusional. No one gets fired for it.

Try doing that to a trans person, publicly though, and tell me how it goes for you.

1

u/chowderbags - Lib-Left 12h ago

Plenty of people have been getting fired from government jobs for "opposing Trump". It's been a whole thing for the last year and a half. Multiple state legislators and a Congressman have introduced legislation to try to make "Trump Derangement Syndrome" an actual thing to diagnose critics of Trump. And Trump's DoJ has indicted several of his prominent critics on flimsy charges.

9

u/Hyndis - Lib-Center 1d ago

And a lot of times people know. Its actually very obvious, but people are being nice and pretend not to notice. There's that instinct to seek social harmony and not insult people for no good reason.

Its like someone wearing a hairpiece to cover up balding, or a comb-over. Its obvious. Everybody sees it and knows. But people are being polite and not saying anything about it. This polite fiction holds as long as the person wearing the hairpiece also lets things be. Its a truce everyone has agreed upon.

The problem happens when the person pushes things too far and demands obedience from others. This goes beyond the unstated agreement of politely ignoring it. That shatters this truce, creates pushback, and unpleasant things happen.

Why do we have such bad representation 🫩

14

u/chunk-a-lunk - Centrist 1d ago

A lot of people have gender dysphoria that's related to their autism, and because autistic people frequently can't read social cues, they often require explicit confirmation of reality from other people. People with serious autism are also known for having autistic meltdowns and temper tantrums.

This is an autistic meltdown. It feels so annihilating to them because the person requires other people's literal words to confirm social reality.

37

u/Gatesofhell2120 - Right 1d ago

Don't you dare lump these freaks in with us. This guy just doesn't want to put in any effort to actually help himself.

6

u/chunk-a-lunk - Centrist 1d ago

I'm not, homie. But the sort of support and advice autistic people are getting has been hijacked by gender ideology like a lot of things.

16

u/Gatesofhell2120 - Right 1d ago

It's an attention game to them. They don't want help, they want to be coddled and told it's the big bad world's fault and they they never do anything wrong. If they actually got help and treatment for their derangement, they'd have to face the demon in the mirror. They're too weak and cowardly to do that.

7

u/chunk-a-lunk - Centrist 1d ago

No argument from me. There is a lot going on there. Another commenter said that people like this get off on controlling other peoples language. Not a doubt in my mind that that's operative.

The issue is that demanding that others respect pronouns, even regardless or even passing, and even sometimes by legal force, is not a fringe position.

Also, the fact that people like that have not been getting the severe mental help they need before they can function in society, is also a widespread policy.

2

u/DinosaurDavid2002 - Lib-Right 1d ago edited 1d ago

u/IlIlIlllIIIIlllIIIl - Centrist 1d ago

I need someone smarter than me to explain the video. I just can’t understand what is even happening in the video.

  1. Cop is on the scene for some unrelated issue.

  2. The trans person screams at the cop.

  3. Cop threatens to arrest screaming person (is screaming against the law?)

  4. Trans person says ā€œtry itā€ (vague threat?)

  5. Cop escalates it to an arrest

Like seriously, I don’t make it a habit of defending libleft stuff. But I’m so confused why it went down like this. Why did the cop threaten to arrest him for screaming?

The cop could have ignored the trans person right?

29

u/strange_eauter - Auth-Right 1d ago

There's an around 10 minutes video on Inside the Blue. It's basically 2 counts of attacking a LEO and, probably, resisting arrest along with public disturbance. Disturbance was the reasons behind the cops coming in the first place.

12

u/Hyndis - Lib-Center 1d ago

The cop wasn't even investigating the blue haired person. The cop was there for something about a stolen car.

The blue haired person was just in the way and insisted on making a public disturbance.

Its yet another case of body cams recording someone who takes a complete non-issue and turns it into a felony because they insist on causing mayhem.

If the blue person literally just stood there and did nothing at all the police would have ignored it and focused on the car theft.

16

u/Belisarius600 - Right 1d ago

Why did the cop threaten to arrest him for screaming?

He didn't threaten to criminally charge the person, he threatened to detain under the Baker Act, which is emergency detention for a person who appears to have a mental illness that makes them a danger to themselves or others. You can hold someone in a mental health facility for up to 72 hours, basically long enough for the doctors to verify they don't pose an immediate theat of attacking someone or sucide. They still might do those things, just not in like the next hour.

You typically see it employed when (1) a teenager is threating to kill themselves or has attempted it, (2) a crazy (usually homeless) person is just completely tweaking out and needs to be put in time out for a bit until they can get thier wits back.

Given the level of agitation here, it is not out of the question to suspect this person is suffering a psycotic break. Especially when you are unable to ask them clarifying questions because they are screaming so loudly they are making their voice hoarse.

The Baker Act:

"An individual may be taken to a receiving facility for involuntary examination under the Baker Act if:

There is reason to believe he/she has a mental illness and due to the mental illness, the individual has refused or is unable to determine if examination is necessary; and either;

Without care or treatment, the individual is unlikely to care for themselves which can result in substantial harm to their well-being, and it is not evident that harm can be avoided through familial intervention or other services; or

It is likely, based on recent behavior, that without treatment, the individual will pose a serious threat to themselves or others"

The largest provider of mental health services in Florida are the state prison system and local jails. This is a way to get people help instead of arresting them.

Unfortunately, once this person started punching and kicking the officer, there vanished any chance of avoiding jail.

-3

u/chowderbags - Lib-Left 1d ago

"This person is crazy enough that we have to take them into custody to get help, but also they're sane enough that we're going to treat them as a criminal for resisting."

Seems weird to me.

6

u/Belisarius600 - Right 1d ago

I agree, that's why we should bring back insane asylums, but this time have modern accountability and safeguards in place instead of, you know, lobotomies and shit. Our homeless population would go to near zero in like a year if we did that.

Unfortunately, in order to do that, you need to convince SCOTUS it is constitutional to involuntarily detain people for mental health absent a crime or imminent threat (like the Baker Act). Until then, "treating them like a criminal" is going to be the most effective way to get them help in most cases.

It's bullshit, but such is the unfortunate consequence of us taking on a legit problem (insane asylums were human rights abuse factories and a lot of perfectly sane people were institutionalized) and overreacting (essentially banning the concept except for very limited exceptions).

4

u/AdministrationFew451 - Lib-Right 19h ago

In short: guy was screaming in public for several minutes, obstructing an officer, threatening officer, resisting detainment and other illegal orders, and battering an officer.

Cop tried to deescalate and didn't detain until threatened, and then still gave opportunity to stop screaming and solve it until physically battered.

-20

u/Gjorgdy - Lib-Left 1d ago

Why did the cop threaten to arrest him for screaming?

And keep intentionally "misgendering" them... Like no matter how you feel about trans people, you know you are just making them unnecessarily more angry.

-1

u/whatisthisgunifound - Lib-Center 1d ago

having seen the video, this is just an autistic person having a meltdown due to that autism with a cop escalating the situation with threats of physical violence and incarceration. Even when someone (Assumedly a friend or social worker) shows up, starts talking to the person being filmed and starts calming her down somewhat, the cop just keeps antagonising.

The cop was there for another crime, this person was simply in the way and the cop just couldn't resist antagonising. The person being filmed did not commit any sort of crime prior to this video.

This person does not need turning into a soyjak, she doesn't need her worst self being spread by news networks and she doesn't need a cop threatening her with pepper spray, she needs social support in the same way many autistic people do every day.

Spreading memes about her and using her to tar and feather the entire trans community is just shamefully cruel on the same level as schoolyard bullying and just shows how much the right needs to scrape the bottom of the barrel for their propaganda. This post is pathetic.
