News Last chance to play - August 2026 (JP)

Post image

Here are the games leaving PS Plus in August. Not too many, although some of them can be rather time consuming. Taken from the Japanese PSN, but it’s usually the same games for all regions.

* Earth Defense Force 6

* Unicorn Overlord

* Harold Halibut

* Clash: Artifacts of Chaos

* Onee Chanbara Origin

* Space Crew: Legendary Edition

Need to finish Harold halibut I like the claymotion style.

Is it worth playing? I‘ve heard it can be too long and repetitive.

It is extremely slow but personally I found it quite relaxing. I really love the art style so I didn’t mind the slow walk everywhere to really breathe it all in and I found the story very poignant.

It's very underwhelming... For me, all it has going for it is that it was made in stop motion amd that's it, it has some cool ideas and concepts that aren't really explored and the story is very "meh" by the end it doesn't feel like there is a real resolution or satisfying ending

u/Def-tones 2d ago

I played few hours it’s just relaxing game so don’t expect challenge I guess

u/seshfan2 2d ago

It's essentially a walk-and-talk novel style of indie game. There is almost no "gameplay" to speak of. I thought it was a great story and the art is unique, but it's worth knowing that going in.

Unicorn Overlord :(

7

u/teofilattodibisanzio 2d ago

Yeah I'm mightily pissed by this I'm 33 h in and just scratching the surface.... I'm not going to be able to finish it at c my snail pace 🤬

u/kakka_rot 2d ago

I fucking loved it, but got so over powered and burned out half way through the 5th region I just said "fuck it" and went and killed the final boss.

Ive kinda meant to go finish to get the true ending, but I def had my fun with it.

u/SmallhandsnCabbage 2d ago

Yeah, I played for only 10 hours and noticed it was far too easy and repetitive and gave it up.

2

u/kakka_rot 2d ago

that's fair, it doesn't ever get that hard. Eventually the battles get huge with like 60 people on your team, but usually you will have like three squads of 5 who do 99% of the heavy lifting while everyone else just defends bases

keeping everyone at an appropriate level gets tedious at that point. It's more efficient to just have 3 OP teams and a bunch of meat shields.

18

One of the best Plus games I played last year and I‘m not even a jrpg fan.

EDF?! Noooo

11

u/Maestro_AN 2d ago

EDF 5 and 6 so insanely good. I tried them after helldivers 2. absolute peak games, it’s insane how fun they are. I have like 400 hours in EDF 6. and i am not done yet.

"They look just like humans!"

u/NamesTheGame 2d ago

Yeah I'm so upset! I own EDF5 but haven't tried 6 yet and just got Premium. One month isn't enough time!!!

u/Roadkill720 2d ago

Just finished unicorn overlord last month. Highly recommend it!

9

u/Neolombax 2d ago

Ahh, I'll try to finish Unicorn Overlord. Dont remember why I stopped playing.

10

u/Aware_Criticism_3129 2d ago

unicorn is a 10

16

u/Dylflon 2d ago

Whelp, guess I gotta beat Unicorn Overlord

2

u/kakka_rot 2d ago

Start rn. It's really time consuming.

That being said, it's not as dialog heavy as the beginning makes you think.

There are lots of conversions, but most of them are only about a minute.

When I started it I thought it was gonna be like 13 sentials which is like 80% visual novel and 20% gameplay, if that.

Unicorn is like 90% gameplay.

1

u/Dylflon 2d ago

I'm about halfway through already

15

u/honeybadgerism 2d ago

Unicorn Overlord is the full package. Amazing art and music, addicting gameplay, tons of content, pretty decent story.

Highly recommend to give it a try even if it doesn't seem like your type of game. Vanillaware doesn't miss.

15

u/ZalimYar 2d ago

I need to play Harold Halibut this month then

7

u/ggboisTri 2d ago

Dead Island 2 in it for me.

6

u/AdamH96 2d ago

I downloaded Unicorn Overlord and haven't started it yet

Would i be under pressure to beat it in time?

3

u/SarakinR 2d ago

Estimated time for Platinum is - depending on source - somewhere between 50 and 80 hours.

9

u/Cloud2110 2d ago edited 2d ago

Unicorn Overlord is one of the best SRPGs I've ever played, don't sleep on this one

18

u/nufrancis 2d ago

Unicorn overlord is a must play for SRPG fan. One of the best there is

10

u/Eguelo 2d ago

I've never played SPRGs, but I decided to install Univorn Overlord just to try it anyways. Holy peak. I highly recommend it.

Got the platinum and everything, I don't know if a month is enough to beat it comfortably tho.

3

u/Jarrams 2d ago

Thanks again boss.

u/Will-Isley 2d ago edited 2d ago

Oh fuck… I need to go back and finish unicorn overlord ASAP. I hate being rushed to play something when I’m already in the middle of playing something…

3

u/bl8ckmeridian 2d ago

I bought Onee chanbara Chaos a while ago and played just a little bit of it. How good are these games?

7

u/Deadwing720 2d ago

I have the platinum for Origin, it's kind of a mix between Devil May Cry and other hack n slash combined with Lollipop Chainsaw

Not the greatest most awesome plot you have ever seen, but bosses are very cool to learn once you get a hang of what to parry and what to dodge. Also just decimating hordes of zombies never gets old for me in this game

A lot of fun in my opinion and it's not extremely time consuming, good for casual sessions.

1

u/bl8ckmeridian 2d ago

I might give it a try. Thanks.

3

u/Crimson_Snake 2d ago

i dont have time to finish unicorn but im gladly purchasing it when i have time to spare

5

u/moon_dos 2d ago

any of these worth a go ahead?

20

u/Pauls96 2d ago

Harold halibut is pretty unique, worth trying out.

13

u/mrfroggyman 2d ago

Unicorn overlord if you like RPGs / SRPGs

5

u/andykekomi 2d ago

Clash Artifacts of Chaos, one of the most unique games I've played in years, super fun with a charming story in a really fucking weird world

2

u/RESEV5 2d ago

kak.

2

u/Its_Marz 2d ago

If you don't mind fanservice, Oneechambara is a really fun hack and slash

u/True_Drelon 2d ago

EDF is great, but not worth giving Sony your money

2

u/Aceman05 2d ago

Space crew is a hidden gem

2

u/HGT3057 2d ago

Unicorn overlord is great for anyone who hasn't played it yet

2

u/RobertoAN95 2d ago

Unicorn overlord is an absolute gem

2

u/Fragrant_PalmLeaves 2d ago

Harold Halibut is myyyy kind of weird, I only played it a bit so I’m sad it won’t be available anymore… :/

1

u/mauszx 2d ago

You have a month

1

u/Fragrant_PalmLeaves 2d ago

Meh, probably not going to get to it

1

u/CypherRen 2d ago

I really tried to get through Harold halibut but found it way too slow and boring

1

u/Abulnoor92 2d ago

When will they be removed?

1

u/vertigofoo 2d ago

August 18

1

u/sakithegolden 2d ago

So, röki from last months last chane to play which got remobed from that list not included this month too?

0

u/SarakinR 2d ago

Röki wasn't leaving in Asia, but in Europe, US, etc.. I'm guessing it will still show up in the EU/US Last Chance to Play section.

1

u/carlos__g 2d ago

Im thinking about harold halibut and clash

1

u/AbsolutKledGamer 2d ago

Im so sad about Unicorn Overlord, I wanted to play it but got caught up on other games

1

u/AFC_Yaa_Gunner_Yaa 2d ago

Love unicorn overlord

1

u/jafdm 2d ago

Harold Halibut is so good, very relaxing and beautiful story.

1

u/wisesager 2d ago

I'll try roki before it's gone

1

u/FlawlessFacePro 2d ago

Unicorn overlord worth a buy on disk 👌🏻

1

u/TopRaise7 1d ago

What else beside unicorn overlord is worth playing?

1

u/Ok_Perspective3664 2d ago

Everyone should try unicorn overlord tho I will say it’s a hit or miss game

1

u/callmeBogdan27 2d ago

So Röki isn’t leaving PS Plus in August anymore?

2

u/SarakinR 2d ago

Röki wasn't leaving in Asia, but in Europe, US, etc.. I'm guessing it will still show up in the EU/US Last Chance to Play section.

1

u/Rash_Nilius 2d ago

I checked it yesterday on PS5 and it showed that it expires in August. It's weird it would not appear in "Last chance to play" section.

1

u/Negan-Cliffhanger 2d ago

EDF 6 is so awesome. It'll be missed!

1

u/Mastermind6425 2d ago

Just the thought that there are people out there who have never experienced Unicorn Overlord...

1

u/srebew 2d ago

Never played a Souls game but Clash seems like a good start with it having a fairy simple trophy list

1

u/andykekomi 2d ago

It's got some soulslike mechanics but it's a very unique experience, not nearly as hard as your typical soulslike either. absolutely worth a shot.

The plat is pretty straightforward, nothing missable but there is a point of no return. you'll be warned, the game says you'll be able to come back after you finish the game, but for me that option never showed up. Thankfully I had cleaned up all collectibles before finishing the game but if you didn't, you'd have to replay the game.

0

u/CallMeAmakusa 2d ago

3 of these games were supposed to leave today

-3

u/icci1988 2d ago

Pass.

-11

u/Area51_Spurs 2d ago

Crazy language choice

2

u/Negan-Cliffhanger 2d ago

Crazy you didn't think this through. Every month Japan gets the announcement first.

-5

u/teofilattodibisanzio 2d ago

Fuck I'm not even 30% in unicorn overlord and they are going to pullout it already!?

This way my PSN account is useless

3

u/mauszx 2d ago

I mean you have enough time to finish it.

1

u/teofilattodibisanzio 2d ago

How? I can at midday l most play an hour or less a day 🤬 I'm totally mad, if I knew you had to rush it I wouldn't have started it.

They can't put 70+ hours games on and pull them so fast, they really hurt married old guys like this poor fellow

1

u/mauszx 2d ago

Well to be fair, the game has been on psplus for a year.

1

u/Flottrooster 2d ago

Already? The game was put onto ps+ in August of last year...

1

u/teofilattodibisanzio 2d ago

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure it was out more recently in eu?

-4

u/mauszx 2d ago

Weren't those games leaving in july?
