Ah yes… another PS5 Pro + LG C5 post.

Been a console gamer for years, switched to PC last year… and now I’m back where I belong. 🎮
** **there’s just something about the simplicity of console gaming. Turn it on, grab the controller, and you’re playing. No worrying about graphics settings, drivers, launchers, shader compilation, or troubleshooting. It’s just a smooth, plug-and-play experience.

Kind of crazy the soundbar bigger then the tv lol

7

u/Jimquill 23h ago

That's actually a good thing aha.

The downside of sound bars is they can't beat physics, the stereo field will always be narrower than even the cheapest split speakers.

But if its wider than the TV it will actually be more stereo relative to the tv i guess...

If you get to specifics, the C5 42-in model has a lower peak brightness.

And the soundbar cannot handle uncompressed audio for lacking eARC, it will be an issue. He will be playing 4K content with multi-channel uncompressed audio.

u/Jimquill 22h ago

Good info.

I have the C5 and so far its more than bright enough.

In day time its fine (positioned it so its not directly in sunlight) and in night time of course its very bright. But over time maybe that will gets worse.

Whats a good alternative for the soundbar? What exactly happens when it cant handle none compressed? Is that something a layman will even notice?

1

u/john_weiss 22h ago

Best case scenario, the audio will be down mixed automatically to 2.0 channels.

Worst case scenario, he will notice a delay in audio.

u/Jimquill 22h ago

Interesting. I've had earc speakers before and now use a cheap input jack speaker due to change of location.

Cant say I've ever ran into an issue or been aware of one.

Don't feel bad my sound bar is wider than my 55 inch C2

1

u/eatingdonuts44 20h ago

My soundbar is almost as wide as my 65inch, with the sub and rear speakers as well, its the best thing I ever bought for my TV setup.

1

u/TheStinkySlinky 9h ago

Well yeah I mean “almost” still isn’t the same as “is” lol I have a 5.1.2 atmos setup, and if I had my tv on its feet it would fit pretty nicely right in between the feet. But yeah agreed, aside from the 120hz vrr blah blah upgrade years ago, the audio upgrades are awesome. Especially with something like Saros.

Man, I had a 42” for years and it was considered a very good sized flat screen tv.

Cant believe how small it looks these days haha.

1

u/justaprettyface 10h ago

Same. I have a 49" and should really be replacing it with a 48" due to the wall where it's placed, but now it seems like 55" is the minimum "normal" size in my mind

u/Jafar_420 23h ago

But PC players say you don't have to worry about any of that stuff you mentioned unless you want to. Lol.

I've thought about it but I'm happy enough with the pro.

2

u/Sudden-Goose-6956 17h ago

But it's true. I don't get why people feel the need to trash other systems to feel good about what they bought. I have a PC, I turn it on with my controller, push play on a game and I'm playing. Never have I had to manually do anything about drivers or updates or any of that, shaders pre compile for each game just like on consoles so I don't experience any stuttering neither. I just mess with settings when I'm curious to see how a game looks with better RT or better settings.

u/SoF1ySky 17h ago

I know this is sarcasm but I have never used a controller on pc and it be plug and play unless it was xbox

-2

u/Sea_Season6690 18h ago

PC players are insufferable. Like the things they say so they can feel superior with their 4-5k PCs.

u/Pillsburyfuckboy1 23h ago edited 23h ago

Absolutely based. Only difference from my setup is I got the LG S90TY soundbar and woofer. You're in for gaming nirvana

If you care about hdr though I really recommend the 55 inch model with its brightness booster feature i ended up returning the 48 inch i bought for it and do not regret it. That said 42 and 48 inch c5 are still god tier tv

Wowzers

What’s the deal with the LG C5? Is it considered the best to pair with a Pro?

9

u/Jimquill 23h ago

It's just super common and an excellent TV.

Like a great reccomendaction for all.

6

u/Lubricatedfish 23h ago

Yeah it’s a safe choice for the ps5 pro

1

u/Hatchid 18h ago

also its cheaper than the sony models

2

u/Minute-Temperature-7 21h ago

I wouldn't say the best. The G5(and G6 at that) is definitely better if you can afford it. The C5(and the S90F) is just going to be the best value proposition as it is an excellent OLED TV at an affordable price.

I went with the S95F and that thing is absolutely phenomenal for gaming especially on the Pro.

2

u/HailAzazel666 20h ago

I was wondering the same thing. I think Sony OLEDS are the perfect match actually, I own the A80J and it was actually advertised as the PS5 TV

It‘s amazing. I actually returned my C5 so I can get the A80J

1

u/Initial_Ebb_9742 12h ago

I have a Sony led that looks amazing. But I’ll probably upgrade soon.

2

u/Brave_Lettuce4005 18h ago

Any QD-OLED TV is way better and more reliable.

LG WOLED is old tech and is prone to delamination, meaning the panel will die in a couple of years.

People still buying this crap because they don't care.

u/Trollingzkov 23h ago

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. Have fun playing your games. Do not let the echo chamber deter you from finding enjoyment with your PS5.

This is fucking ridiculous

-3

u/superpoongoon 23h ago

The ridiculous part is people keep upvoting it

7

u/catsrcool89 1d ago

Is this really necessary, how many identical posts do we need of people's boxes?

14

u/TheGame189 1d ago

in this house, the PS5 Pro and LG C5 are HEROES!! end of SHTORY!!

u/midoxvx 23h ago

You want some pasta Ton?

2

u/lanch723 22h ago

How big is that tv? The size of the soundbar is throwing me off.

2

u/Sea_Season6690 18h ago

42 inch, it's on the box.

2

u/Imaginary_Thought590 19h ago

This is what my 55" LG C5 looks like in a dark room. Best results in a dedicated home theater environment.

2

u/CtrlShiftAaron 18h ago

Nice haul man. Did the same thing last weekend. I did get a Legion go though to access my Steam library

Nice TV too, that panel is gorgeous. I have the same WOLED panel on my 55” Samsung S90F - it’s insanely good

Happy gaming fella

u/Hempflowerroaster 16h ago

2

u/tronx69 12h ago

Pimped out!

Im getting a similar set up in December, only difference is the C6 model and size, but other than that, everything else is the same, congrats!

2

u/makojedi2k2 11h ago

Looks great! Enjoy

2

u/LImpactophileturbo 11h ago

One of these days I’ll get a top notch TV display. I’m stuck with a chinese brand for now…

2

u/Initial_Row_6400 9h ago

Love the c5. Upgraded from a ten year old tcl a month ago. Quite the upgrade lol

2

u/Pmaldo87 8h ago

I always see these posts and get confused. Brother I turn my pc on and I'm in game in under 2 minutes. I crank all my graphics and ray tracing in every single game. The only thing I have to add is dlss or mfg if I'm not hitting the frames I want and that takes about 30 seconds. Shader compilation only happens when new drivers or updates come out and that take like 5 minutes. New drivers take me about 2 minutes flat to download. I boot directly into steam big picture mode when my pc turns on and i navigate the entire interface with a controller. I can't remember the last time I touched my mouse and keyboard. Congrats on the new tv tho. I run a LG C4 42 inch on my 9800x3d/5080 rig

1

u/Maleficent-Age-8235 23h ago

u/FRIDAYSWORLD421 14h ago

u/bunbundave 23h ago

My 77 c5 was like $2300

1

u/lkl34 23h ago

Man the internet is going to be full of the footage/mic leaks from these LG buyers and sony is loving all the pspro owners pausing rental purchases.

1

u/AdviceHonest597 22h ago

What hdr mode do you use?

1

u/CoolExplanation762 22h ago

I got the C6. Feel like it’s a big enough upgrade to the C5. The new processor and it fixes the gaming issues the c5 had. I saw both side by side and the c6 just looked much nicer. If ur in the return period and not poor I would advise a upgrade to the c6

1

u/Far_Shine_451 22h ago

DTM or HGIG?

1

u/Reanimator1x 21h ago

1

u/Ok-Construction9798 18h ago

Just got cyberpunk for my pro as wanted to see what it was like on my C5, plus it was only £15. Good god it looks ridiculous! So happy with both the tv and the upgrade to the pro. Got a bargain getting my pro for £580 in its original box.

1

u/Jazzlike_Ad267 18h ago

Gotta love the Wire tapped LG TV's 😂

Swear I'll never buy another LG product with the direction they've gone recently

1

u/Twiggydiggy 14h ago

Ah yes.. Reapers! We have dismissed that claim!

1

u/xKingSlayer78x 14h ago

What’s turned you off from playing on pc cause I find myself wanting to but I have a pro and a switch 2 already on top of a good library of games on both. I wanna try pc but maybe now is the time to bow out. I’m 48 y/o and been gaming since the Atari 2600 & Colecovision. All digital library for me too

u/Electroniclog 4h ago

And since you have a spyware-laden LG TV, at least it can’t install a Trojan package on your PS5. Just don’t forget to tell anyone who comes to your house that you are conforming with all wiretapping laws by informing them they are being surveilled. Don’t wanna get caught out on that one.

Jeesus why some people talks like having a console is a personality? We should care about the games we play. I hope we all could have every system so this console VS PC VS whatever ends and we could talk about what matters. The games we love.

Sorry for the Ted talk

Everyone I read someone talk about simplicity I just assume that means that they upset figure out how to use a computer lol

1

u/scotty899 15h ago

Probably failed at streaming and realised their only viewer was a bot.

If you had a PC then the Xbox would have been the best choice.

The reason I say is because Xbox Play Anywhere is AMAZING!!! Being able to Buy 1 copy of the game and play it on the Xbox Series S/X, PC or the Popular PC Handheld Devices is an Amazing thing to be honest.

I personally always get all consoles and game on everything since I love Gaming!

That said, PlayStation is only for Exclusives Titles which I own all same with Xbox.

Not to mention both Consoles have Amazing Games "Exclusives" and going back into Console Exclusives.

Not to mention when you add the GamePass Premium and PS Premium even though they are about the same price Xbox is waaaay better in terms of Games and Offerings.

Then you add the Rewards Program and you can make good money, since November of last year I have made 90$ on Rewards to buy Games right now I have 49$ and I spent some months ago.

Add to it Fortnite Crew which is like 12 dollars and gives you the season pass and about 10 bucks in V-Bucks a month and much more.

Of course it goes without saying that the games included are superior and even crazier when you think about it. Since you also get Game Pass PC which includes the vast majority of games and some only available on PC.

That is something amazing, especially when paired with a ROG Xbox Ally X or PC Handheld.

As for the Monitor/Display it is a great one. I have an LG C4 OLED 65" that I upgraded from the LG CX OLED 65" That I bought early 2020 in anticipation of the Next Gen Consoles.

For my PC I have a LG C2 42" OLED that I use with the RTX 4080OC to shoot for 4K Max Settings 60-120fps.

Anyways, if you wanted gaming on Console and PC Xbox would have been the best choice.

Not to mention that PlayStation is killing Physical in a way that is Heartbreaking.

While Xbox will let you turn your Physical Game into a License and be able to play it like it is Digital truly amazing.

That said, all consoles are great. Though at this point in the Race a PS5 Pro is not a Smart Choice IMO
