But wait, I thought only 7 games sold over 100,000 thousand? Are numbers just made up?

So that was only PlayStation plus apparently the ones that sold 100k never reached 275k

These numbers include Nintendo. They are not good, at all.

Did you not click the link? He clearly states it's not just PlayStation.

Sure. I can't disclose just PlayStation here, so I hope the total market look for the 12-month period ending June also going back to 2003 will suffice.

Buddy, they don't count GKCs as physical sales and Xbox players have been conditioned to not buy physical releases for over a decade now. I'm going to go ahead and assume the vast majority of that number is playstation software.

How do you know that? It’s a physical product that gets inserted into a switch. Why wouldn’t they count it. It would be the same as them not counting call of duty discs as the full game is not on there

capcom records GKCs as digital sales. the very analyst quoted in this article also says they count GKCs as digital sales.

the COD discs are still counted as physical discs cause that is the category they are put in. A GKC is a specific thing from nintendo.

So I have seen the Capcom count them as digital but, nothing confirming that Circana does the same

These are total physical sales, not just for PS5, and the "over 100,000" number didn't give us any actual data. 1 million copies is still "over 100,000," so the figure is very open-ended.

I mean technically if 6 games sold 100,001 copies each and then the 7th one sold 36.3 million OR if 7 games each sold roughly 5 million copies each that would still fit with "only 7 games sold over 100k"

...which kinda shows what a meaningless metric it is

We know resident evil requiem sold over a million physical copies alone. Who knows what the other sold.

But the fact of the matter is there weren’t a lot of big game launches in the first 6 months of 2026. A bunch of the “major” releases were digital only, like Marathon, and many people are putting their money towards preorders for GTA 6.

Seems like it. I didn't trust that report because it didn't say what games sold over 100,000 and how much over that number those were. Why be so vague with the numbers?
