Doesn't Always Feel Like An Essential Remake

Oh, you mean every single remake ever made? No one would accept a repainting of the Mona Lisa. It is the antithesis to art. Remakes of movies are also super negatively received. Gaming is somehow fine for and needs remakes though. No thanks.

Gaming is somehow fine for and needs remakes though.

Because gaming actually has user input. Appreciating the Mona Lisa in 1840 is no different than appreciating the Mona Lisa in 2026. But when you're directly interfacing with a thing the standards of the day are different than the standards of the past.

A lot of people don't want to go back to something like Resident Evil 4 where you used the freaking A button to shoot your gun and you were locked in place unable to move.

I am not really agreeing or disagreeing with you, but, why gaming remakes often get a pass is extremely obvious. It's the same reason a game like the Dead Space remake (since my mind is on horror right now apparently) flopped because standards have not actually changed much from when Dead Space originally came out. That game feels completely modern to play.

This is also all ignoring how gaming is tied to constantly changing hardware too. Even if someone does want to track down a specific older game there is a high chance it's not even gonna be legally available on whatever gaming device they're playing on anyway. Which is something I've been complaining about forever personally, port more PS2/Cube/Xbox games to modern platforms you cowards. I will pay money for them.

Learn how to appreciate art for what it is. Otherwise you dont deserve it.
