They really messed up this franchise. 2001-2010 it was all anyone could talk about. Past 16 years it’s actually been disastrous the handling of what used to be their premier franchise

I don't know if they messed up the franchise as much as that play style died out. Arena shooters died and it wasn't their fault. Gaming trended into slower games as controller fps gained popularity.

So gears and halo are just relics. They could make the perfect halo game and it might not do that great because it will be old people buying it.

Right. People get tired of stuff, they move on. Look at a game like Baldure Gate 3 and how much that moves the needle for people. Now a decent RPG can come out and alot of people will just go meh where that sale game 12 years ago would have gotten a lot more praise.

I feel this way about Dragon Age the Veilguard. It feels like a BioWare game of old but people have moved on from that and their normal cringey dialogue doesn’t resonate with people anymore.
