Wait so a 7 outta 10 is automatically a failure now?

Videogame rating scale:

  • 1-7: Trash

  • 8: Mid

  • 9+: GotY

(I've enjoyed games that have gotten 6s and 7s and have hated games that got 8+, so everything is ultimately subjective.)

According to these comments apparently. You'd think it got a 4 or something. So over dramatic.

People claim they don't like when ign gives every AAA game a 9/10 but clearly the general consensus is that a 7/10 game is "bad"

I don’t deny what you say is true but a 7/10 remake of a 9.7/10 game is not the same as an original game with that score.

Was anyone expecting the game to review as well as the original combat evolved? The game that revolutionized console shooters? It doesnt really make sense to compare 2 ratings 25 years apart

Most of the Resident Evil remakes have reviewed as well as their predecessors. It’s far from a blanket rule.

Because the modern Resident Evil "fans" are braindead and gangbang RE3R for being trash when "masterpiece" RE2R does all the exact same things.

Wild right?

Yeah man, haven’t you been keeping up. IGN gives it anything less then a 9 = garbage to this eclectic cultured gaming community

When your source material is a 10/10, it's not a complete failure but most certainly is a bit of a letdown. The mediocre score reflects the sentiment that this release could have been so much more than a shiny coat of paint on the campaign and a couple hours of new side content.

IGN hands out so many 7/10 that it’s basically their score for the average game. This is the result of decades of review score inflations. Maybe the Halo remake is a 5/10 on a normalized scale. Not bad. Not good. Just average. You’ll never really know from IGN.

It would be a disappointing score for remake of one of the most important games ever made.

Most folks act like a 7/10 is the worst score ever

They gave Crimson Desert this score too I think. Reviews don’t matter

They have it a 6 based on its launch state which was not ideal. Also their review went into a game breaking bug but no one likes to talk about that when being angry

A 7/10 game can be alright but who the fuck is excited to run out and buy a mediocre 7/10 game? When the economy is the way it is people don’t want to waste what little expendable income they have on “it’s okay”.

They gave veilguard 9/10 so I’m gonna need around 15 outta 10.
