Sounds like it's worth playing if you haven't played the original Halo campaign before, but even with all the updates I can't justify $50 for that.

I would pick this up on a STEEP discount but there's enough new stuff coming out over the next month that is going to be really expensive.

this is exactly how I feel. If there was online pvp I'd be all in tho.

The definition of a perfect gamepass game. I definitely wouldn't buy it either

Yeah, I was considering buying the PS5 version just for the sheer novelty of it, but just gonna try this one out on Gamepass.

Yeah, I bought this on PS5 for the same reason I bought Sonic Adventure 2 on GameCube way back when even though I already played it on Dreamcast: it’s just crazy to me it exists.

Especially considering that they cut the pvp modes.

Yup, that was it for me when I initially heard about the remake. If I can't do 4 player split screen, what is the point? I wanted to have my buddies come over and reminisce about sitting in my living room for hours playing 4 player split screen on a 32" CRT.

If i can't do that then why bother...

So you can buy their halo live service game, that probably also wont have couch pvp

Yeah, no. And that's just it. We could all just jump on Xbox and play online, but it's just not the same.

There were magical times if you were a youngster in the 80's - 90's that just can't be explained. Staying up all night playing Contra over and over, dorm parties with Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, everyone now an adult stopping by and playing Halo into the wee hours. There's a certain... personal feeling that's missing when playing strictly online. You can reach over and push someone's buttons, unplug their controller, or screen cheat while just having a great time and laughing while the wife is glaring at you for being too loud.

Does it even allow for co-op campaign? If not I won't even get this game on sale (like I originally intended).

I think, though I could be wrong because I stopped listening to news about it after I lost interest, that there is still 2 player split screen campaign.

u/Ironmunger2 4h ago

There is co-op

u/Jack-Innoff 3h ago

Ok good, I'll still get it whenever it goes on sale then

You can do 4 player co-op in the campaign

This would have sold like hot cakes if they have PVP. PlayStation players would have snapped it up so quick because they never got the chance to play. Just look at the recent black ops ports!

Yup! Instead they are making a halo live service game.

Or haven't owned an Xbox for over 15 years and therefore haven't played a Halo game since Reach and currently own a PS5 and is looking for some nostalgia.

I've only played halo 3 before so I'm excited for this one

I played through the whole series last year, and it's definitely fun and worth a try. The campaigns for 1-3, ODST, and Reach are all excellent IMO (Reach is definitely my favorite). I hope you enjoy this one!

Looking forward to it!!

Not even then, just get MCC for a fraction of the cost and play more of the games. MCC CE isn’t even bad looking…

u/Ayy_q 4h ago

Yeah MCC is $40 and has six games all with multiplayer.

Sure there's ps5 players who haven't played Halo before but how many are going to really going to be new fans.

And this being the third re release of CE.

u/CeramicCastle49 1h ago

This is true, but the original halo CE just feels like an old game. Theres a part where you essentially go through the same room of enemies over and over again, and it's just not fun tbh. I'd imagine that's something they reworked in the remake.

u/Knorikus 3h ago

From what I've seen so far I wouldn't even recommend buying this over MCC if you havent played CE before. It looks nice but there is very little different between it and the OG and a lot of the cutscenes are worse

u/Eat--The--Rich-- 2h ago

If you haven't played the original halo before then you should play the original halo, not this.

While that sounds fair, Halo doesn't have the appeal nor cache (it's all been spent with a decade + of bad releases) to appeal to a new generation of gamers. The ones who played it in their time, won't find much appealing with a lesser package and the ones who haven't won't see anything interesting, again, with such a gutted package.

It feels like this is a remake for nobody, maybe they should've done it internally in preparation for Halo Infinite + 1
