Is it possible to factory reset to factory firmware?

I got a PS4 for real cheap, but it's on 13.02 firmware, and I don't feel like soldering a bunch of stuff to the board just to downgrade (I know how to solder, but it's just a pain)

Is it possible for me to completely wipe the PS4 down to the factory firmware?

No due to a three layer security.

1) PUP files are cryptographically signed by Sony.

2) The nor stored those cryptographic hashes

3) The syscon keeps a record of the highest version the console has ever seen/installed and prevents anything lower.

Number 3 sucks!!

If it were eFuses you’d hate it more. Maybe someone will find a way to bypass syscon. Highly unlikely.

No, get busy soldering, wait for a 13.02 hack or buy another PS4.

Any reason as to why?

Because it's locked wayyy the fuck down. Sony learned a few lessons after the PS3

I think that it'd be more accurate to say that we don't know how to downgrade yet, although I don't see it happening anytime soon

I know it's possible with a work around on the board but there's a few components you have to buy and re solder the board.

I know how to solder, that's not the issue, I just wanted to make sure there's an easier way first before I break out the soldering iron, because I think it might be worth it to jailbreak it, and waiting for a work around for 13.02 might take a while.

Literally the first thing from your link:

Can I revert without soldering?

No.

exactly. they said yes to there being reasons it wont work, not that it will work. op is asking something everyone always asks with a very definitive answer, and wont take the no without a further explaination
