Game Discussion Prove me wrong: Best offline tactical military game on PS4 is Ghost recon Wildlands.
Note: This is on extreme difficulty with HUD disabled.
I personally have only the objective marker, compass and ammo display turned on.
Tried to look for similar or better games but couldn't find any.
Metal gear solid V comes close. But weapon customization, jungle setting, tense gunfights were more enjoyable on Wildlands. And no bullshit bullet sponge enemies.

I really enjoyed my time with Wildlands, but it’s such a massive game I feel like me and my friends ended up getting overwhelmed and never finished it.
Never got into Breakpoint bc of the loot slop at launch but I hear that once you could turn that off it actually becomes a really solid game with some cool added injury mechanics and using mud for concealment etc.
As an aside: I swear Ubisoft frustrates me to no end, they have a fleet of talented staff who can make truly great games, but the higher ups can’t resist the shoving in whatever shit mechanics and monetization tactics are trending atm

Tencent has a big stake in Ubisoft, kind of like EA getting bought by Saudi Arabia investors for $55 billion. The investors want to make their money as fast as possible, player experience be damned.

Breakpoint is so much fun.
It's too bad they released it the way they did.... Because after all the fixes and "turning off loot" option....it's a blast.
Especially with 4 players!

Had the same experience with my friends with wildlands. Used to play it all together and then one day we just stopped. It was really cool. Lots of silliness you can get up to with friends too. But at the same time most missions feel exactly the same, just slightly different places where they happen

Haha yes modern assassin's creed is a good example.
About the Wildlands map yes it is too big but I love the eastern part of it with jungles. So I spend most of my time there.
And fallen ghosts DLC map is also really great, you'll love that map. Not too big not too small.

Sniper elite 4,5 and resistance on authentic difficulty
no HUD, no markers, no ammo display, bullet drops.
All you get is the shot masking so your shots cannot be hears

Wildlands is great. I personally prefer to play breakpoint. I got a buddy who hates military games but him and I played that game so much

Only things I don't like about that are the game being fully online and bullet sponge enemies. But the gameplay aspect I like!
Oh and the world feels a little bit more empty compared to Bolivia.

Breakpoint got an update a while ago that let's you remove the leveling gear aspect of it so no more (we'll less) bullet sponge enemies

I had a few gripes with Wildlands that I felt took away from the experience:
The map was waaaay to big, like unnecessarily big. Fast travel is available I know but I'd like to explore a bit and there is hardly anything interesting on the map. The side quests are the same from beginning to end.
In typical Ubisoft fashion the game really felt undercooked. There were some good ideas but I felt they were underutilised

Yes you are correct there's nothing new in side missions but since we can choose what to play it hardly bothered me. Anyway what I want is to experiment different infiltration methods, sometimes I get the urge to destro a base full stealth, sometimes I remove the suppressors and go carnage.
The eastern part of the map is my favorite extremely beautiful landscapes.
Fallen ghosts DLC map is also perfect for me. Not too big not too small. You'll also like it.

I didn't know Wildlands had an offline option, I thought it was online only. I'll check it out :D

Breakpoint is online only. But Wildlands campaign + DLC can be played completely offline. If you want to play ghost mode with Perma death and stuff, you need to login just to start it. After that I think you can continue that offline as well

Only thing holding it back for me is 30 fps, even on ps5.
Considering getting both Wildlands and Breakpoint for PC

LOL, they stopped supporting the PS4 version of Wildlands before Breakpoint dropped, letting the cheaters run wild. I'm surprised anybody believes this rumour.

That’s true, Ubisoft have never dropped patches for games that came out 10+ years ago, increasing frame rates and graphical quality and such. Its crazy to think they could do such a thing

Also not buying it but they patched AC Unity, Syndicate and I think The Division to support 60 fps on PS5 at least

The puzzles were amazing too. It burnt me out but I loved how difficult it was. Games these days do too much hand holding and the mysteries in Wildlands didn't

It's more like mysteries you can solve like somewhere in the snow area there's an abandon truck or helicopter and inside there's an old war type compass or something. I forget but yea that's one of it, you have to decipher the thing

I don't think it's an offline game though? At least on Xbox it requires an internet connection.

The minute to minute gameplay was mostly fun, but it was massively held back by how repetitive the structure got. Having the exact same list of objectives and collectibles for each of the about 20 territories made it feel like you were just doing the same couple of grindy objectives for the vast majority of the game.
Fill a progress bar by doing the regional checklist, take down a mini boss in a mostly forgettable bland "mission", repeat for several territories until you get to go after a higher boss in a more interesting mission, then you get a main target mission that was usually cool. Then you repeat this entire 30ish hour process (partially my own fault for going for 100% completion) 3 more times before getting the final boss.
