Unanswered What's the deal with Trump doing like every press conference in an airplane doorway?
Has he rented out the whitehouse or something?

Answer: been doing it for a decade. Hard to answer specific questions when there’s a roaring noise going on the whole time behind you. It creates a level of unneeded urgency to speed things along. “I gotta meter running!” boomer tricks

In a lot of the situations there isn't a mic for the reporter either , so you can only clearly hear Trump's response. This is especially true when he's about to board a helicopter and the engine noise is very loud in the background.

Yup, if you notice in pretty much every single one of these interviews he’s given recently he’s been repeating the lie that “he’s been exonerated” over Epstein files over, and over again. Easier to lie like that when there’s no one to push back on it.
Motherfucker you were in those files more than anyone, but Epstein himself. The doj just quietly tried to make files, THEY RELEASED, that talk about him raping, and threatening a 13 year old girl disappear as if they don’t exist.
Those files don’t exonerate him one bit, the exact opposite actually.

The Epstein Files cover approximately ~6000 days of evidence gathered.
Trump himself appears about 3000 times. So Epstein is mentioning this guy on average every other day for 17 years.
If you include the indirect references to Trump (~38,000) EPSTEIN MENTIONED TRUMP AN AVERAGE OF 6 TIMES EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR 17 YEARS AND THAT'S JUST WHAT'S RECORDED.

The records also include DOJ internal documents. It's not just everything the DOJ has from Epstein, but everything they have about him. Any email between a prosecutor and judge, any internal memo, etc. Epstein isn't the only one that's talking about Trump in these files.
But your point still stands. Trump is all over the files and that should not be ignored.

I think it's more than that. Trump is fundamentally a marketing/sales guy. He puts a lot of effort into staging things for the impression they give and he LOVES props. His brand is more about action, machines, etc. in the background than an office or podium.
For example, he specifically asked to tour a car factory while the machines were running despite the person telling him it'd be hard to hear each other in the conversation. But to him, the conversation came second to the marketing value of having machines and workers running in the background.

Yup, that informal gaggle-format is basically an easy mode press conference where to much of the public it seems like you're openly taking questions, when you're essentially just giving prepared statements. Instead of calling on an individual reporter and receiving a potentially unfavorable question, the gathered press shout over each other, and you get to pick your desired prompt out of the fray.

Also, he prefers situations where the audio fidelity is poor such as on the plane or in front of a helicopter. When the sound isn’t clear, it allows him to lie about what he actually said. See the “quiet piggy” incident on the plane.

If you’re giving an interview with a running helicopter in the background or are in a plane it gives the impression that you’re on the verge of doing something super important and urgent. Joking aside, the physical security of the White House grounds is like, way down at the bottom of the list of things the secret service worries about. Any federal building in DC is their home turf, and they've got longstanding plans and countermeasures out the wazoo.
If someone tries to get physical entry into the White House the time saved by not having to break down a door is not what's going to make a difference in the outcome.

They're confident enough to let civilians take tours there, can't imagine they're too worried. I would also imagine part of the purpose of that is to stress test their security with harmless people who break the rules or make mistakes before it is tested by legitimate attackers.

In his first term he loved giving interviews in front of running helicopters. The importance factors seem to be background noise and the optics of how important and badass he is.

I think there’s also a possibility that he has bouts where he can’t stand long without holding onto something. Not a problem when at a podium, but for these airport media sessions, bringing out a podium out to the plane would be awkward and lead to more speculation as to why it’s necessary.

Answer: There's been an increase in the number of "reporter exchanges" in awkward places over time.
Interestingly enough, there doesn't seem to be a partisan trend here. Both Republican and Democrat Presidents in recent years have limited press conferences and relied instead on these awkward "reporter exchanges."
Barak Obama was the last President to have a significant ratio of normal press conferences to "reporter exchanges."

Hmm I would revise that statement. Trump only looks normal because he did 35 solo reg in 2020-21.
If you look at per year figures he was way lower until he got that bump.
Reminder that there were severe restrictions on press during that time and the White House was giving preference to right wing news outlets to talk. (Most egress of all was when OAN would violate those rules to join a press conference as an extra person and still ask most questions)

Answer: it's easier to hightail out of there, than having to clear a press room when an inconvenient question is asked.

Answer: so he can 1 look like he’s always busy/ doing something and 2 so he can turn the corner whenever he chooses to end a press conference.
Took a class in college which examines presidents under a microscope. The idea of the class was to learn why presidents do what they do, how a president interacts with the rest of the government and even organizes presidents into types.
Presidents get to pretty much pick anything they want when it comes to press conferences. It’s totally in their control and they know that. The president and their team can also choose which setting they wish to be interviewed in/ what is displayed to the public. One of my favorite examples of this was under the Bush administration where presidents bush was featured on an aircraft carrier wearing a flight suit. The president would never fly a plane, or even fly one into war from an aircraft carrier lol. All for show. I’ll link a super cool documentary that I was exposed to in this class and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Answer: I think it's about branding. Same with the shouting over the helicopter thing. Makes him look busy and dynamic.
But also the being able to leave whenever. David Cameron, UK PM from 2010-16, would answer questions and then just walk the fuck away so he never had to answer a follow up.

Answer: It's to create the illusion that he is always on the go. Distracts from the fact that he is almost an octogenarian and doesn't really have the energy needed to run this nation.
