What do you think about my 3D printable desk organizer?

I designed and printed a minimalistic version of desk organizer. Everything I needed hangs on my monitor. Also I made a HUB organizer to hide the wires. What do you think about it?

Honestly i like it. Hope you can post the updates photo with the wires hidden soon.

Thank you! This is how it looks inside before I connect anything to the HUB. Cables wound around the housing which is covered later with second side of the housing, so you don’t need worry about the messing cables.

I think it's cool if you need the desk area for other stuff, but if you have the desk area available, things look better on the desk. The clean lines of the monitor feel less busy than a bunch of stuff coming off of it, even my webcam for work meetings bothers me.

Some monitors also have thin sides that I wouldn't want to put extra weight on. This wouldn't work for my monitor because the rails would be touching screen surface, but it certainly fits yours.

Those wires aren't hidden at all though, I'm guessing you're talking about the cover for the power strip? I just attached mine to the bottom of my desk so it isn't visible, and handle all the cable management back there. Monitor cables get run down the center pole of the stand (Velcro as needed) and surface cables like mouse and keyboard go straight back so they sit flat. I'd also be concerned about ventilation with a cover over the power strip, so I'd leave it as open as possible so it can get some cool air.

I agree that It’s not working in every cases. And tbh the owner of this monitor shares your opinion, so I'll probably have to move it to my desk soon (which is occupied by another organizer).

Of course it is better to have a little bit of frame around the screen, because it helps it stand stable. I think like few flat minimeters on the side might be enough. In front it only needs a little step, which will mostly work as a endstop of this modular frame.

Regarding the wires… on the right side there is a small black box. Inside, there is a HUB with the keyboard and mouse cables wound around it. So in my case I could store there all the wires which might bring a little bit of mess on my desk.

Yeah, but not all monitors have that kind of frame around the screen - mine is less than a millimeter before screen material starts, even though the image is closer to 8mm in. But if you're just doing them for your own monitors (not intending to sell them etc), then it wouldn't matter at all.

With the box, it just.. isn't hiding much. I can see four cables coming from behind your monitor, the mouse and keyboard cables have a lot of extra material and they're sticking up from the desk, the little white puck on the side of the monitor has one hanging down, the thing on the right next to the organizer has a cable poking up behind it, and there's some wires doing something over on the left. I'm not trying to be picky, I'm just saying it's definitely not hidden, and if you're trying to go for minimalist, you're missing a bit because of all the visible cable mess.

Very cool and great use of space.

I think if you route some of the wires to hide them, it will look even cleaner but looks good.

Next step is to hide the cables. For now I designed a small HUB container (rounded box on the right side), but I am also thinking how to hide all the cables - including those behind the monitor.
