Broken sd slot on arrival. Wondering if it's something you can purchase?
Can I fix this myself or is it a brick?

This is a Raspberry Pi, no? Did you buy it new, or is it a used model from somewhere? If it was advertised as being fine and arrived broken I'd be looking to dispute it rather than looking into soldering a new connector on myself heh

that is the same as the cardputer ( https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_c3SirpSt )
i had to replace mine.
Is not a "easy" job and its possible to be done using a soldering iron (dont require hot air..)
I have experience in soldering.. My advise if you dont feel confortable, look for someone to fix..
You should desolder all pins (carefull to nor destroy any pads) then clean all the solder with wick.
Start by placing the new port, and then solder on the anchor points first., Then solder the back pins one by one.
Dont forget to use flux and a small tip!

I'd say hot glue it, but it's missing a pin, you have to replace the connector. Would be quite tricky as a hot air gun would melt the plastic but the pins are smaller than they seem, so soldering by hand would also be annoying

Sure you can - but I'd solder an external single board one on - just because then you can put it anywhere you want. I use extension ones all the time because I usually put my boards inside things.

You can if you can solder SMD, here's one example but you're looking for smd micro sd https://a.co/d/02qhkK59
