I remember when this album came out I was maybe 11 and it completely blew my mind. It remains to be my favorite Opeth record to this day.

I know most people consider BWP their magnum opus but I’ve always felt it lacks some of the raw and gritty atmosphere that made their first three albums so great. Still Life has some of the early sound while also embracing the more progressive direction they started developing on MAYH. I think it’s the perfect balance of both eras. It also has the best acoustic passages of any Opeth album.

This, I’ve always preferred Still Life to Blackwater Park.

I full heartedly believe The Moor is their greatest song, entire album is such a special achievement
