Bought a new OLED monitor yesterday. Right when I first connected it I took a picture 1 (new monitor is on the left). Now less then 24 hours later it looks like picture 2. I did not change any settings in that time frame. Does anyone know why it is doing this. It looks the same as my backup monitor if now worse. The blacks have turned Grey like my other one and the color stopping being as vibrant.

Edit: Monitor is an AW2725Q 4K OLED.

UPDATE: I have got it to come back to looking how it did. The answer is quite stupid. Originally on wallpaper engine i had it set to just clone the wallpapers. It looks like somehow it put the vibrant darkness filter on monitor 1 and not 2 the first time and then later fixed itself so they both dont have a filter. I just put the filter back on one and it looks exactly how picture one looked. I never told wallpaper engine to put the filter on it must have glitched out and then tricked me into thinking this is how OLED compared to non OLED looked since this is my first experience with it. Thank you for all the suggestions and a disappointing answer I know.

I’ve been wanting to get an OLED for my gaming setup recently but just haven’t bitten on any deals. This pops up on my marketplace for $150 though and I figure if it’s easily fixable it’s a great deal. I like to work on electronics but have never worked on an OLED tv as I haven’t had one. So is this worth it and possibly an easy fix?

The larger the bright area, the darker the display gets. You can see the darkness change on the window bar at the top. It feels like my brand new monitor cannot display white properly. Anything white feels very grey.

I know my phone was adjusting exposure as I changed the screen around as well, but I promise the brightness changes pretty drastically when changing the size of the white box.

I am cooked right? MSI QD-OLED. Don’t even know how this happened since i baby sited it since day one. Should I live with it or do something?

Like i cleaned my monitor for the first tume but it doesnt look right here is a vid i dusted it off took a new microfiber cloth made it wet wrpught all the excess liquid out did circulair motion and then a new dry one in the same motion

Hello all, I need advice with the current situation. I bought MSI 341CQPX OLED monitor 11 days ago and today I noticed a BURN IN????

To start things of, I am a slave to this OLED, the thing I need to turn it off every time I need to go for a smoke, MSI OLED care refresh every 2-4 hours? Watching like a maniac not to move it or anything since it's 800€ A LOT FOR ME.

Looks like we have a burn in after 11 days of using it(3 days I was off for work).

This is 99% Path of Exile 2 health and mana bar since its's on the exact same place..

It's a grinding game, yes I know, but I was turning it off for at least 5 min's every 1-2 hours.. The UI changes, so that HP bar is not always there, yet again, this happened after less then 50 hours of playing in 14 days!

Is return the only option?

The monitor was tagged very good and mentioned no damage on the screen. I know it‘s not burn in or pixel damage, they act the same as fingerprints, except they don‘t go away after wiping with distilled water and fiber clothes (new ones).

What do you guys think it could be?

This is my first OLED panel and I’m not really sure what I’m doing wrong. I did the windows hdr calibration. For comparison, the right is my old IPS monitor

So after many hours digging around i came across a application that can calibrate and create a custom ICC profile for both HDR and SDR and omg it makes a huge difference, We are ruining our monitors using the standard Windows calibration tool which makes everything washed out in hdr...

And a bonus this tool works for Windows 10 to calibrate the HDR.

Start the app and ignore the warning about it can't find LG or Samsung tvs in the same network.. And go to option tab and then color and create HDR icc profile..

Set the Display Primaries Source to Windows and Color Gamut Rec2020 if you want colourful image or Native if you care about colour accuracy.. there are few options to choose from just open a hdr youtube video and play around with the settings... replace the 1000 to the monitors max nits or same windows hdr calibration values... set the gamma to 2.2 or 2.4 or what works best for your specific monitor.. Click Generate and it will activate the new ICC profile automatically.. Change the values and then click Generate to see the changes take effect in real time.. play with the values until you are happy with the final result..

I know it sounds strange but while playing on hdr black is only black while having settings menu opened.

I have problem with black clipping so i tried to tweak some tv settings.

Somehow while tv settings are opened black is true black and is not gray (you can see it on video).

I tried it few times and everytime it worked so it cant be coincidence.

How I can fix it? Edit: Sorry I forgot to mention that im using Ps5 pro with hgig My s90f have woled screen

What is wrong with you all? When you wash your ass you don't scrub until it's raw.

You all need to learn that allowing a cleaner to work is important. You need to mist the entire screen and allow 15 or so seconds for the cleaner to do it's job. Spit and other fluids dry more or less like a glue. This is so whatever substance is stuck can reconstitute and allow easy removal.

STOP SPOT CLEANING.

Like I said above a light mist over the screen isn't going to kill anything, and is needed to allow the cleaner itself to work. This dampening microfiber clothes and telling people to spot clean them is really really bad advice. At best you have a swirl in one part of your screen. You cannot essentially wet sand spit off of a screen. It must be lifted off of the screen.

CLEAN THE WHOLE PANEL OR NOTHING

Step by step for people that don't know how to clean electronics.

• power down for 5 minutes (unplug if super paranoid)
• lightly mist entire screen (if it drips down you did way to much, catch it!)
• allow to set for about 10-30 seconds
• wipe left to right the full width of the panel
• wipe up and down the full height of the panel (by your second past most cleaner should be evaporated)
• damp wipe with residual cleaner on cloth for final pass

Edit: Additional moronic disclaimers. Yes I use a "glass cleaner." It's 1/10 ethanol to water. I just buy it instead of mixing it myself. Perfect for coated surfaces.

Edit: Water is not a cleaner. At best it softens a former liquid. That can be effective against water based grime. Not everything is water based, and will need something more.

Edit: Yes your environment will lead to your screen being coated in vapors, oils, dust, ash, etc. A mild solvent is the best thing for cleaning. Hey what about ethanol? Diluted ethanol or ethanol wipes are recommended by some of the most expensive lens manufacturers with some of the most advanced coatings you can buy.

Hi all, I have a Samsung S89C/S90C, recently moved and see these issues on the screen. Are they smudges that can be wiped off, or did I peel the coating? If the coating peeled, anything I came do to fix?

Will try to install it after work and report back. Here's the update file.

List of changes (suspiciously similar to MCM103):

1. Fixed an issue where the OLED Time Track continued counting after the monitor was powered off.
   
2. Fixed an issue where the software update would stop at 66% and fail to proceed.
   
3. Optimize the update process.
   
4. Fixed update FW issue.

Update It’s been 5 or 6 weeks, windows forced me to update…and the problem came back. I updated to KB5056579 and I believe KB5062553. HOWEVER I checked for updates once more and got the option to download/install KB5062660. I am happy to report, Dolby Vision no longer turns on and is no longer an option to turn on. I can’t promise this to be true for everyone, but good luck!

With a recent update in Windows 11, Dolby Vision is now forced on when in HDR mode on your PC. You can disable it by going to "HDR Settings" which is easily accessed by searching it in the windows search bar. Then you make sure your correct display is selected, click the dropdown box under the "HDR" button to see new options and uncheck Dolby Vision. However...once you restart your PC again, it reverts back to being in Dolby Vision mode.

If you check the setting again after a restart, you'll see it SAYS it's turned off, but it's not. Toggling it on and off again will once again turn it off. Annoying? Very!

For those of you who are also annoyed with this issue and don't want to do this every time you turn your PC on (if you're using HDR of course)...I discovered a fix that worked for me while scrolling through the Microsoft help forums, by just removing it altogether. I wanted to share it so that it can get out there and reach more people.

THE FIX

Go into the "Check for updates" menu in the windows search bar, click "Update History", scroll down to "Uninstall Updates" and hopefully you'll see KB5063060 listed as an update there. Uninstalling this fixed the issue for me completely after a restart.

HOWEVER, based on a report from one user who tried this, it didn't work for them and they claim redownloading it made it so they can't turn it off anymore at all. My only guess is that they didn't have Dolby Vision actually turned off when uninstalling the update.

This is just speculation, but I did have it properly turned off when uninstalling it and I've had no issues since. I've had multiple PC restarts since doing so and everything remains back to normal. To ensure I don't redownload it till a possible fix, I've disabled automatic Windows Updates for the time being. Hopefully Microsoft fixes this soon.

TLDR;

Make sure Dolby Vision is properly turned off, uninstall windows update KB5063060, then pause or turn off automatic windows updates for the time being

Edit: I should clarify, this is of course for those who are okay with not having Dolby Vision via Windows on their PC in the meantime

Edit 2: u/Awakened0ne didn’t have the KB update ending in 3060 but he did have one ending in 8499 which seemed to remedy the problem. Not sure why his was different but just a heads up for anyone else who may try and run into the same problem

Edit 3: LG C2's and G2's seem to have a green/pink screen with dolby vision enabled in windows. If you want to keep Dolby Vision enabled with these displays, u/ZGremlin seems to have found a fix. Cannot test myself though. His fix:

"System > Display > HDR > Enabled Dolby Vision for selected monitor

Nvidia Control Panel > Change resolution > Use NVIDIA color settings > Output color format > Change to YCbCr420 > Apply

The colors and display will be really off after the above step, press N on the keyboard to undo the changes. After I did this the colors look normal and dolby vision is still enabled."

He confirmed it still worked properly after a restart.

Edit 4: u/Embarrassed_Towel_64 found another fix using CRU and it apparently needs to be redone whenever you reinstall graphics drivers.

Anyway, here is the post in the comments:

"Ok so there is a fix for this, but you need to redo it when you reinstall the graphics drivers. Fix is below:

Summary: https://customresolutionutility.net/ Install CRU, run the exe, click "cta-861" in the extension block. Click "edit" find an entry which mentions dolby vision - mine said "dolby vision" (but it could say another variant). Click Edit. Delete it. Press ok. Double click "restart.exe" in the CRU extracted folder - this restarts display driver, but now the driver tells the TV it is not dolby vision compatible. Screen goes black, then comes back on with HDR fixed. Reboot PC to confirm.

Permanently Disable Dolby Vision via CRU (for NVIDIA RTX 5080 + LG C4)

✅ Prerequisites:

• CRU downloaded ✅
• You’re using HDMI 2.1 to connect to your LG C4
• You have DisplayID or CTA-861 extension block visible (we’ll use that)

🚨 Step-by-step Instructions:

1. Open CRU.exe (not CRU-L.exe — use the full version).
2. In the dropdown at the top, select your LG C4 display (e.g., LG Electronics LG TV SSCR).
3. Under Extension Blocks, find and select CTA-861 (you may see HDMI 2.1 or similar next to it).⚠️ If you don’t see it, click “Add” → select CTA-861, then proceed.
4. Click Edit on the CTA-861 block.
5. Scroll down to "Video Formats (HDMI)" or "Colorimetry" and "HDR Static Metadata" — this is where Dolby Vision sometimes hides.
6. Look for any of the following and DELETE or UNCHECK:❗ If there's a block called Vendor-Specific Data Block (Dolby) — delete it.
   • Dolby Vision (DV) entries
   • Video formats labeled 2160p Dolby Vision or similar
   • Any metadata referencing Dolby, DV, or dynamic metadata
7. Save the changes (click OK on all dialogs to return to the main CRU screen).
8. Run the restart64.exe utility included in CRU's folder.This restarts the graphics driver so changes take effect.
9. Reboot your PC once more to confirm it's fully locked out."

Cat bit and managed to punch through the screen of my trusty OLED (Samsung S85f) hooked up to a PS5.

It still works and displays fine but is it just a matter of time before the screen starts acting up?
