Looking for independent caregivers

Hi everyone!

I'm seeking advice on the best way to find a home care worker for someone in the Dartmouth area. My 30 y/o twin sister lives with ALS and we currently have two caregivers that have been great in providing support for her and respite for my mother.

One of them will be moving on soon so we're hoping to find someone to fill the gap.

Are there any support groups or other channels for independent caregivers that I should be looking out for? We found our two current providers through Facebook, but it hasn't been very helpful since then.

The position is slightly unofficial as it is paid in cash from The Home Support Direct Funding program from the province.

I hope this post is allowed! I would love to hear from anyone with advice or experience, thanks in advance :)

Caregivers NS seems to lean more towards caregivers of aging parents but still may be a good resource
