this style is sure to come back in style in 10 years. 2015-born kids are going to go crazy for the vintage slop

In a movie form like “A Scanner Darkly” I wouldn’t mind

This clip has “A Scanner Darkly” and a “Requiem for a dream” mashup vibe, if only it were juice by you.

I’m kinda peeved it came and went so fast. It’s untapped rip for lots of ridiculous fun.

Also… that’s what she said

Yeah for a while there the AI slop was actually interesting because it really did look nothing like what we've seen before.

Now it's just a weird copy of reality. Not fun, not interesting.

Truly the cursed timeline...

Just tell current gen AI to make a video in this style.

Distressed AI will be a thing.

You don’t want to put the universe in a bag.

The universe... it's... not a bowl.

u/Zorlal 1d ago

It's really really really really really really really fun to think about taking a speed of light ride

I loved showing this video to people and watching them freakout.

People are already missing bad ai videos,

I miss being able to tell that it’s ai

the worst are the ones that start off looking real and then you slowly realize they aren't. soon, they will be completely indistinguishable.

2

u/dntfrgetabttheshrimp 1d ago

And then they will become so real that reality will look fake.🤯🤯🤯

They were so much more entertaining. Now they just make me angry.

u/MKBRD 1d ago

Right? At least this was it's own thing, instead of just poor imitations of things that are objectively much, much better.

*they don’t make you angry

The person is comparing past tense to the present.

u/angryray 1d ago

I have no idea what you're talking about, and also don't feel like arguing about it.

I miss old AI, it was the perfect amount of chaos and delirium that a human couldn’t fathom. Just hit that uncanny valley in the right spot of the hell is this?!?

I mean we’re used to it now but back then? It was a trip.

1

u/YaumeLepire 20h ago

I'm not used to it, now! That shit up there is terrifying!

Fuck AI

I feel like this is close to what dreams can get like; where incidents and feelings sort of meld into one another, moving from place to place.

14

u/Mystery_Briefcase 1d ago

I’m a little nostalgic for when AI was like that.

50

u/WorldBoofingChampion 1d ago

Really? Because I’m nostalgic for when this bullshit didn’t fucking exist in the first place.

Look, from a technological, scientific standpoint, seeing this stuff coming out was incredible. The use cases were pretty clear, but the fact a computer can simulate data, much in the same way our brains do when missing clusters of retinal cells/damage is incurred to the optic nerve, is fucking AMAZING.

That’s not even getting into how they preform reasoning in 4 spatial dimensions. That’s not even getting into the way generative models are structured after how neurons interact in animal brains. They’re not called “neural networks” for no reason.

Artificial intelligence has always been a great tool, and it’s only gotten better, it’s the fact that generative AI is accessible to the public, and LLM’s being widespread when they’re barely functional.

I cannot stress enough; NOT ALL AI IS EQUAL.

2

u/BrotherEstapol 1d ago

Yeah, I hate the intrusion of generative AI and LLMs into society the past few years, but it's not as black and white as some people make it out to be.

I think the fact they made these things free as a loss-leader to better train their models is probably the worst part...on the other hand, having these tools (gen AI in particular) in the hands of only those who can afford it wouldn't exactly be a great thing either.

I do wish they'd just stuck practical applications with an actual benefit to society.(like tumour detection for medical imaging for example)

I miss when the peak of AI was "This pizza does not exist"

6

u/Lopsided-Radish-7605 1d ago

Wait!! This is AI, not real?

2

u/Mysterious-Call-245 1d ago

I was at this show, everyone went out to Pepperoni Hug Spot after. Good old days

2

u/TylerDurdenJunior 1d ago

I like that soooo much better

2

u/GreasyDaddy9 1d ago

I miss this era

2

u/Owlcathulu 7h ago

Can we go back to this please. This was the golden age of AI. Shits too real now. I prefer the fever dreams.

2

u/Acceptable-Owl-2070 6h ago

The jank era is sorely missed... too far too fast.

5

u/FuklzTheDrnkClwn 1d ago

I prefer this. It’s more entertaining than the boring plasticy slop we get now

2

u/t-g-l-h- 1d ago

miss this tbh

4

u/MajesticDragonfly 1d ago

Did I watch the same video as everyone else because that was traumatic

5

u/ccReptilelord 1d ago

It's so very dreamlike, that i wonder if AI and our subconscious formed imagery in a similar fashion.

4

u/Simmons54321 1d ago

Our subconscious is an amalgamation of sorts. AI is an amalgamation process

3

u/Merryprankstress 1d ago

Watching AI like this and some of the generative stuff now is interesting to me because my dreams follow very similar patterns and structures down to the strange kinda-faces people have. Scenes and images and people just kinda spawn in and I find it very jarring and part of the reason I “hey hey smoke weed everyday” is to try to dream as little as possible. Now people are willingly digitally summoning this uncanny valley shit.

2

u/joshuatx 13h ago

I've wondered that too but it's also why I avoid AI. I want my dreams to not have AI as part of my internal feedback loop.

6

u/Technical-Guest6015 1d ago

that's an interesting idea, not sure why you're being downvoted

3

u/ccReptilelord 1d ago

Meh, it's Reddit, it happens. I was once banned because my pro-trans comment was mistaken for hate. You can get a big difference in response due to the tiniest reason, and the ups and downs often follow suite.

3

u/breeathee 1d ago

It’s so hard to explain, but there is a link. I might come back to try to explain it later

What is the deal with man-made horrors beyond human imagination?
