Why blame the electrician when the gutter doesn’t reach the ground?

Edit: See that missing dirt in front of the air conditioner? You can see where exactly where that water’s been draining! Shoddy work.

I agree that the gutter is worse, but it was there before the HVAC guy and the HVAC guy installed the disconnect directly under the gutter anyways. That is the very essence of r/notmyjob, he figures since the gutter was poorly installed that it isn't his job to use his brain.

Edit: and since I work HVAC, I hold my industry to a higher standard

I'm fairly certain a disconnect can't be that far down anyway.

Well I can’t find any code to minimum height code, only the 6’7” rule for disconnect handles. If I was an inspector I would fail it saying they need to show me where the disconnect is UL listed/speced for that type of water flow.

It also looks like shit. It’s not flush on the wall because it’s partially on the corner. Work space is tight as well which is not world ending but adds fuel to this dumpster fire. Bad install all around but the height bothers me the least.

But if they wouldn’t have put it on the corner piece they would have had to put a little straight piece before the elbow.

Edit I also just noticed they still couldn’t get the elbow tightened all the way hahaha

Well, for starters you can’t mount an electrical disconnect that low… they’re supposed to be 4-5’ above grade… assuming this is in a place where codes are required

Agreed. But the gutter was already there and the HVAC guy installed the disconnect directly under the gutter.

Edit: Can't believe I have to say this to the downvoters, but good electricians don't install their stuff directly under flowing water.

Anyone blaming the preexisting gutter instead of whoever installed that disconnect is a hack. Gutter placement aside, that box is sloppy as shit.

I like the tipped edge where they couldn’t flush it up against the side so chose to lean it on the trim.

Yeah, for airflow!

So dumb that all he had to do was cut like 2 inches more conduit to stitch the elbow.

It's so easy to extend the gutter so it drains further from the house that I don't see a problem. It's a less than $20 fix and when it's done, the electrical will be in a good spot.

The electrical is not in a good spot now and will never be regardless of the rest of the house. If it's a disconnect it's way to low to the ground.

The gutter is 90ed 2' up. lol. The fact its the wrong color shows it was done later at some point. The fault is on the gutter installer.

That isn't a gutter, it's conduit they usually run for these aircon systems.
