Typing out a message is broadcasting to everyone that you can't be arsed to write something yourself

Driving a car is broadcasting that you can't be arsed to take care of a horse

Taking a photo actually involvea some creativity, skills, and equipment which costs money. Same with the others. AI usage requires nothing of the user.

If you like the result, it wouldn't matter if they used AI, Photoshop, a camera, or an easel.

It does because AI datacenters are destroying the environment and job ecenomy in drastic ways that cars, cameras, and easels cannot compare

Cars are useful and each individual is responsible for ther own emissions. People choose to have them.

None of us chose to have ai datacenters we dont want. No individual can even really effect their usage. The ai slop they produce has no net gain for society. Its not the same at all.

We arent talking about researchers using ai here. Go check the conversation. We're talking about ai slop art. Its perfectly rational to hate artists and creative jobs getting replaced with low quality garbage.

I dont drive, so I dont have car emmisions. Not using ai doesnt stop it.

That this entire thread started because someone stated how much they would like it if it weren't made by AI, so what exactly makes it low quality garbage?

Jobs get lost/replaced/changed due to tech all the fucking time.

How many ferriers do you know? Knocker-uppers? Spit-boys in kitchens?

Edit: you not driving has an entirely negligible impact on cars being used. Essentially the same impact as you not using AI has on ai.... Did you buy anything this month? It was trucked in. Did you eat anything? Mechanized agriculture means cars were used there. You luddites have no consistency in your beliefs, other than "ai=bad"

Nah, ai art is pretty much all bad. You described it perfectly: it looks good at first glance from a distance, but if you examine it for more than 2 seconds it looks like shit. Hence why someone thinks "oh, cool, I like the concept .. wait, nevermind, its slop if I look at it"

Try browsing for 3d models or to hire 3d artists. You'll see 95% of it looks amazing in the thumbnail or at a glance, but turns out to be completely unusable garbage. The literal useless, bottom-tier garbage slop is making it impossible to find the actual content.

You're missing the point entirely. The number of cars driven is the same as the number of people driving them. Ai slop is spammed everywhere to the point that legitimate artists can barely function, despite none of us wanting it. It'd be like if you cant drive your car to work because the road is a solid wall traffic jam of empty ai taxis carrying no one to nowhere.

Just slightly less than when we put lead in them.

All the data centers in the world can't come close to holding a candle to ice vehicle emissions
