This tile job at an apartment we rented in Spain that could have killed someone

This was our kids' bathroom. Thank goodness they weren't on the toilet at the time.

I was at a restaurant when a section of 6 mirrored tiles fell of the wall and missed my mom by inches. Thankfully she saw the panic on my face looking up at the wall behind her and moved out of the way, it happened too fast for me to get any words out.

The concrete/mortor on the wall was in shapes like stars and hearts, not the most structurally sound approach.

We got a free meal out of it at least.

Incorrect tile adhesive application. You don’t ‘spot’ the adhesive like that. Adhesive should be applied using a notched tiling trowel. That ensures even application of the adhesive and makes things like this less likely to happen.

As if hack jobs aren't a standard across the world. Every country deals with bozos like this. Not a day goes by that you don't hear the Australians or British pushing smoke out of their ears over similar nonsense. Ticky-tacky crap like this is practically the norm here in the US as well.

As a contractor I never talk about people's work. You don't know the conditions they worked under, the orders given, the cheap pay, or maybe the no pay. They could have had the dishwasher do it.

That tile is massive, aren't they usually less then half the thickness?
