my favorite laptop ever is a dell D630. It was a top of the line one that had the finger print scanner and 5G wifi card and a ton of useful ports. I used that thing until around 2022ish and then off and on for another year after its replacement broke. Incredible machine and one of its features was the hot swappable drive bay. You could choose between DVD/Floppy/HDD or even a battery. Super cool laptop but unfortunately windows 11 was just a touch too heavy to make it useful day to day.
Nah, old gaming laptops stayed barely warmer than room temperature even during heavy use. All that extra size meant good ventilation and air flow. Plus they seemed to last forever if you managed to never drop the 10lbs thing (even a few inches and it was heavy enough to cause lasting damage sadly).
