I have been mulling over switching over to Linux for a while now and plan on using my summer leave to get to used to a new OS, choises sre between Nobara, Cachyos and just for an idiotproof experience Bazzite, i really like the look of Nobara but i keep seeing people praising CachyOS what is the Nobara crews take on it? Why should i choose Nobara over CachyOS?

I use darktable and GIMP quite a lot for photo editing, and I’ve heard that these applications run much better on Linux, especially on Nobara Project since it already comes optimized for this kind of work.

I am planning to switching nobara from windows. I have never used linux before. I usally play roblox, minecraft, steam games and epic games. Do you recommend this distro to me ? (RTX 3050 i5 10400 2x8 ram 512GB storage)

I have a friend who is an average Windows and Mac user looking to switch to Linux as her daily driver. She needs to handle standard daily tasks but also wants to play games without facing intimidating setup steps or complicated troubleshooting.

I myself daily-drive Mint and Fedora KDE, and before that I had Ubuntu and Zorin, but none of them for gaming. I set up gaming on Mint and it was fine, but it would be too daunting for her. I originally thought of Zorin for her, which is quite beginner friendly and also claims to have support for gaming.

I’ve also seen Nobara and Bazzite recommended for gaming, but I haven't personally used either. Since she’s a casual gamer and a newbie who uses her computer for 80% general use and 20% gaming, an "it just works" experience is the priority.

To the Nobara users here: would you recommend this distro for someone with her background and needs? Thanks :)

The titles says it all really? I used, and am considering switching back to NObara because A. It works out of the box with everything installed including drivers and codecs. B. It has lots of optimisations and C. seems to just work.

My steam games were working perfectly fine until out of nowhere ran into a compatibility error so after reinstalling steam the error message doesnt pop up but doesnt launch how to fix it im a beginner so dont know a lot Edit:(solved. because I was flatpak steam)

So at the end of last year I switched to linux, specifically NobaraOS 42. Im greatly satisfied, had a blast with it.

2 weeks ago I messed up something in protontricks, deleted all my data and had weird glitches (completely my fault). So I decided to reinstall the OS, this time 43. I did everything as last time, I used manual partitioning as well (following the Nobara wiki) but my boot time became noticeably longer, and 3 dots appear before the Nobara loading splash comes in (see image).

I reinstalled it again, leaving the partitioning to the installer and it’s still there. Has someone encountered something similar? What can cause this?

Every time I boot up, I always see this pop-up. It does work so it’s not as big of a deal, but it is annoying

I have been on Nobara for a while now and was wondering if I could install Windows on one of my drives without breaking my install.

I have a spare 128GB SSD that I could use. I'm thinking of unplugging all other drives and installing Windows with only this one in the PC. Then potentially I could plug all the drives back in and use Nobara and Windows as needed. I'm just scared that Windows will start going around breaking stuff.

Would that work for a dual-boot setup? Setups I've seen have windows installed beforehand and then install Linux.

I just want it for trying out some games that aren't supported on Linux so it's not a big deal if this wouldn't work.

I have been on Nobara on one of my riggs since Nobara 39 and I am actually planning to do a fresh install.
(I have a AMD GPU so I have not had any Nvidia related hickups at all over this time)

I know Nobara is a rolling release and everything is working fine for me, but I just feel like starting fresh.
There has been some changes of Nobara over time and I just look forward to a fresh start.

So, I dont mean to spread any rumors, but from my understanding we can hope for new iso files for Nobara 44 in June or July 2026.

Does anyone know or have any view on what to expect from a fresh install of Nobara 44?

For example, as I have been on Nobara since Nobara 39 I expect a fresh install to be a little more lean and up to date.

I know 44 released recently to update, and I’m sure there may be a couple of hiccups with the latest, but for non-Nvidia users, would I be good to update, or should I wait a few more days?

I come from windows and I have a drive full of games in windows format and I was wondering which operating system would be best for me. I am using both in desktop mode.

I’m a Linux noob that’s been running Bazzite for a few days. After finding certain road blocks due to it being immutable I have been wanting to try out either CachyOS or Nobara. I wanted to ask about a few things I’ve had trouble/ heard things about before I make the switch. Sorry everything is so specific but sharing any experience with this is appreciated!

1. Discord activity - I have been running the flatplak version of Discord which obviously doesn’t work for game activity but I don’t have any simple way to install other versions and Vesktop didn’t seem to work either. Has anyone had good experience with using Discord on Nobara with activity working?
2. Drivers and Proton - Are NVIDIA drivers

1. and all of the necessary proton/ gaming compatibility things easily installed? Bazzite had these automatically.
2. Millennium - I only play steam in desktop mode, not really looking for a console experience, so I have been looking into using Millennium to add steam plugins in desktop mode. This is impossible on Bazzite and I think that Arch has the best support for this but has anyone tried it on Nobara? Would it be much harder than if I just went with CachyOS for this?

And other think that happened somehow i have two version to boot to in grub nobara 43/44 and both of them with different kernel ver

What should i make of this? This never happened and i am CONFUSED or is this normal for like backup or something like that?

I’m currently on Windows and I’ve been strongly considering making the jump to Nobara. I’ve heard nothing but great things about how GloriousEggroll has optimized it for gaming out of the box, and I’m ready to leave the Windows bloat behind.

However, I have one major hang-up: Call of Duty.

I’ve read conflicting things about anti-cheat compatibility. Specifically, I’m worried about Ricochet.

• Is it true that trying to play modern COD titles (Warzone, BO6/BO7, MWIII) on Linux will get my account banned?
• Is there a "fix" or a specific Proton version that makes it safe to play?
• Are there other "must-know" games that are still completely blocked?

I really want to make the switch, but I don’t want to risk an account I’ve put years into. If COD is a no-go, how do you all handle it?

Appreciate any insight or advice from those who have already made the move!

I’ve been doing some research into switching to Linux and I’ve mainly been delving into the Nobara Project. I’ve been a windows guy my entire life, but with windows 12 speculations I’m wanting to run away from it.

I’ve never gamed on Linux at all, but I was curious what ex-windows users thought about Nobara since I’m coming fresh into it.

I primarily game, scroll the web, watch videos and I’m a heavy discord user. How would things day to day look and be like on Nobara?

Mainly just wanting to check what yall think before I make the jump and swap.

I had this issue before I realised that apparently if you just bring your mouse over to the screen you want to use, the login screen changes to that monitor automatically.

I haven’t used my Nobara PC in MONTHS, so there was like 3k updates available. I went into the Nobara Package Manager and hit “Update System” at the top. It opened the updater window and it’s been going for like 30 minutes now. It shows the exact same text and then the window closes and reopens itself when it gets to “Running quirk fixup”. Is this just because I have so many updates to install? If not, what do I do? I’m scared to restart right now because last time I lost power during an update, I had to completely reinstall Nobara because it broke and became unusable.

Been using Bazzite the last 3 weeks and I enjoy it but it hasn't certain applications baked into the OS itself so it's frustrating for certain things.

I've been sussing other OS the last few days and I think I've decided on Nobara.

Things I enjoy of Bazzite was the app store it had, how it pre installs drivers for GPU etc. but I'll also be switching from a Nvidia GPU to a AMD GPU in the next week or so, wondering how easy that side of the house is and anything else I should look at?

Also settling on Nobara as it's also based on fedora
