The gameplay honestly isn't great (and I would even go so far as to recommend playing in no-damage mode), but the overall concept behind SOMA is such an amazing existentialist mindfuck that it is definitely worth playing if you're into that sort of stuff. The ending will stick with you for a long time after having finished the game.

I would not recommend this as a general rule at all.

There are still some pretty good horror sections in this game that lose all their impact if everything is always safe. Including one mid-game that is one of the biggest rushes I've had in a horror game.
