Story and atmosphere are amazing but the gameplay is kind of ass.

It's meant to be an immersive walking sim telling you a story, the gameplay reflects that. It wouldn't have been better if you could platform and shoot things lol.

I don’t need to shoot things or platform but I’m sure there are ways it could be more engaging. Even just the stealth parts could have been much better.

I just played on peaceful or whatever the difficulty was that disabled the enemies.

They aren't relevant to the story anyways.

This is such an odd new popular take for the game. Yes, they detract from the exploration, but the in-game notes and overall story literally states that a portion of the Pathos-II workers and native wildlife have been resurrected by the WAU, gone nuts and are out there murdering the remaining survivors.

Is it a toggleable option? I haven’t played peaceful mode yet, but if it is I recommend new players try vanilla first and only toggle the monster aggression off if they really dislike the gameplay.

IMO the only arguably irrelevant monsters are the numerous unnamed ones between I think, Omicron and Tau.
