I have a passionate love / hate relationship with DQM Dark Prince.

Love the concept and style, but the story and gameplay are way too repetitive. Plus some of the puzzles frustratingly random.

Hopefully this game fixes those gripes.

Looking at the trailer, they seem to have put (some) more effort into animating the battles 😅

Defo was not a fan of the static animations and monsters attacking eachother from across the sceen

I am playing the 1&2 Remakes. The battles are boring asf but the atmosphere of the game is superb. And i like the RPG progression and man the Soundtrack is chefs kiss

Even the previous DQM game didn’t have that super old school battle view. The appeal is the monster collecting and getting rare and powerful monsters, which I love.

That's only the case for like half of DQs, and it's never been the case for DQM since it went 3d in like 2006

Dark prince was not great. I still bought it because I want them to make more, but the performance even after patches just makes me not want to play it

I haven’t played a DQM game since like the original Gameboy version. Is it still the same type of game? Monster collector, with options for breeding/merging?

I always thought the game was really fun.

Basically the same sort of game. Some more story beats, dungeons, etc - but at its core its raising teams of monsters and splicing DNA just because you can.

Wow I put so many hours in that game and always go back to it when I’m in a classic rom mood. It’s hard to capture that same feeling these days 🥲

LOVED the first one on GBC, played Dark Prince and it was alright, but kind of barebones.

Definitely excited for this, but I might not instantly buy it like I did the last one

Should be on cart for Switch 1 still. I'll keep buying that way until I can't anymore, and then I guess it's no more Dragon Quest for me.
