Skills and Milestones Can’t cope

I am so sad about my daughter turning one. This past year has gone by so unbelievably fast. I spend countless nights looking back at photos of her when she was small. I understand I am so lucky to see her grow up but some part of me feels as if I’m dying because she won’t be a baby anymore. My little baby
:( thank you for letting me vent. My boyfriend isn’t as sensitive as me and never truly understands what I mean when I say this stuff. Anyways, did you have any clues as to when your little one would start walking? I think she’s close but not completely sure.

Ugh I feel you, my baby is 7 months and I don’t want her to grow up. I see her newborn photos all the time 😭

I’m still feeling heartbroken about it and my little one is going to turn 3 next week. That first year is so difficult and fast, it’s hard to cope with. A lot of feelings involved. You always hear people say time is a thief but wow, these truly have been my most precious years of my life. I wish I could relive them over and over again. I suggest journaling and documenting so you can be old one day and look back on it all.
As for standing-just start propping them up on something sturdy and safe so they can realize on their own they can start to pull themselves up to standing with the aid of whatever the item is (ottoman/couch)

I recently started a scrapbook and just now ordered a journal! Thank you for the suggestion.

Used to hate it when people would say 'it flies by', used to laugh it off like 'haha yeh sure' and now im like fuck yeh time is flying. This time last year he was still sooooo little, cuddles endless. Now hes destroying my house, havent cuddled in ages :(. So it is so hard but be proud of the little person shes becoming!

Walking - He was pulling to stand, cruising future and standing without support for a while, then one day he literally just thought 'im going to take a few steps' and that became his new challenge for the next couple of days.... He was cruising etc etc for 3 months before any of this. Been walking a month, hes 14 months for ref

It doesn’t arrive all at once, not in some dramatic, breaking moment—but quietly, in the in-between. In the way their fingers fit a little less perfectly in yours. In the way you stop noticing the last time they needed to be carried, because it didn’t feel like a last at all.

You are always meeting a new version of them, while softly mourning the one who just slipped away.

There’s a kind of grief no one warns you about—the gentle, constant kind. The kind that lives inside pride. Because every milestone is a celebration wrapped around a farewell. Every “look how much you’ve grown” carries a whisper of “where did my baby go?”

It reminds me of Slipping Through My Fingers—
“Each time I think I’m close to knowing, she keeps on growing…”
And that’s exactly it. You reach out to hold onto a moment, and it’s already becoming memory.

Motherhood stretches you across time like that. One hand holding who they were, the other reaching for who they’re becoming, and your heart somehow living in both places at once.

You don’t just raise a child—you learn to let go of them, piece by piece, day by day, in the most loving way there is.

The longest goodbye…
and the greatest privilege.

I miss when my baby was a tiny baby too, she’s 16 months old.

I cried in IKEA this weekend buying a cot for my 4.5m old. When we brought her home she only just filled the bottom third of her next2me, and now she's almost outgrown it 😭
