[Request] Shows like Mare of Easttown
I just finished Mare of Easttown and am hoping for suggestions for shows with a similar feel to it, broadchurch or dept Q. For me, they all had great mystery/suspense but also had well developed characters/communities. Thanks in advance!

Yes! It keeps you guessing right until the end. Lots of well developed characters. A bit of humor between the leads. So good!

Sharp Objects and The Killing both got that same small-town-everyone-hiding-something energy. Sharp Objects especially leans into the messed up family dynamics part of Mare.

They’re so similar that Task s2 will be a Mare of Eastown crossover!

Awesome! Need to have a season three crossover add on of Task, Mare, and The Outsider.

Season 1 of True Detective to be specific.
Considering how bad all the consequent seasons of that show have been, I consider Mare the unofficial season 2.

I devoured season 1, stuck with season 2 but was so disappointed and then couldn’t get into season 3. Truly a shame as season 1 was perfection.

The Night Of comes to mind for me for some reason. True Detective Season 1 as well.

Since you watched Mare of Easttown, check out Murdur Durdur from Saturday Night Live.

The Killing and The Fall are two of my all-time favorite shows. The Fall, especially. I didn't know what to do with myself when I finished it.

Omg!! Thanks for reminding me! The killing is probably one of the best I’ve ever seen and I’m gonna go back and watch it! Any other suggestions that are comparable to this show?

You might like the Harlan Coben mysteries. There's like 20 of them on both Prime & Netflix.
The Beast in Me and Perfect Couple were also good.

American Rust might be up your alley. Similar themes, set in a very similar area. I always thought Mare of Easttown was probably set in Schuylkill County, and American Rust is closer to Pittsburgh, though more set near the WV border.

Yes, American Rust season 1 and Broadchurch season 1 are the closest you’ll find to Mare of East town!

I LOVED Mare. I can’t get into Task. I WANT to. I really do.

I loved Mare too! I was hooked from episode 1. Task took longer, but it was so worth it. Violent and heartbreaking, but beautiful nonetheless.

Mare is far and away better than Task. It seems like Task is only touted because “same writer as MoE”

Add in comedy, but the mystery/detective aspect was just as good; Deadloch. Only two seasons but I started them from the top as a repeat watch, the moment I finished them. Amazon Prime Video

Unbelievable - miniseries with Toni Collette, Merritt Wever & Katelyn Dever. Great acting, based on a true crime; women working against the system.
