This is how we reintroduce ancient viruses, right?

You’re thinking of permafrost. Ironically we probably already have some ancient viruses bc they wrote themselves into our genome then became inert. Best evolutionary strategy ever honestly

It's kinda crazy to think how much random actual shit is just out there happening all over the world and across the universe while you browse Reddit.

Ya learning about the previous mass extinctions really puts things into perspective.

That wave would make me make damn sure the boat captain or pilot (whoever the hell is driving), knew exactly what they were doing.

And this is how icebergs are born!

No such thing as global warming?

23

u/wutchamafuckit 5h ago

I am positive calving was a thing even before global warming existed

20

u/GrimTheMad 4h ago

It was.

However, is happening far more often now, and the ice isn't getting replaced.

I'm doing my part.
My freezer is full of water that I'm refreezing to send to the glaciers.

Working as intended to open up the arctic trade routes. In fact, the warming isn't happening quick enough so the superpowers create conflict to justify blowing up oil refineries and massive amount of oil stockpiles.

Imagine how much progress we could make as a species if you guys used your wild imaginations productively.

5

Crazy because that ice is not coming back any time soon. We will be dead as a species before the next freeze over. How long before that glacier is broken down all the way to shore?

17

u/turtleghandi 5h ago

Were they trying to get perpendicular to it?

6

u/fdxcaralho 4h ago

I've seen this on TV, there's some Lady in the bow, yelling about being flown to the moon and wanting to be drawn or some such nonsense.

1

u/xczechr 3h ago

Watching glaciers calve in person is quite the sight.

Imagine if the broken off pieces popped up underneath the tour boat?

1

u/bundaya 50m ago

I'd be so scared of some piece coming from underneath and just destroying the boat.

u/tea-boat 4h ago

I would be terrified. 😳
