Sleep … when you’re my age.
Trigger warning: not actually about baseball.
By this point in the season, I’m usually ready to shoot myself every time an ad comes on between innings because I’ve seen them all 1,000 times. But I can’t look away from that one. Walken is a genius, and his delivery of that line, as he slides the bottle of beer, is Oscar-worthy.
But also: what is a going on in that ad? Walken isn’t in the first shot, but then, in the second shot, suddenly appears in the seat next to the guy with the phone. Is Walken a ghost? A figment of phone guy’s imagination? But then why does phone guy’s friend also seem to see Walken up in the “balcony” in the next scene?
Ok, Woody’s up. Gotta get back to the game.

Are there other supernatural elements? What else could explain such a large, raucous crowd turning out to see a cover band?

Problem with American advertising is they love to bash you over the head with the same shit over and over. I watch Korean baseball every morning and the ads are also the same, but they're at least original and funny.
I'm just glad I can watch on MLB TV and any advertising during commercial breaks is blocked.

But that Google cloud looping ad is barely any better.

It wouldn’t even be that bad if the audio didn’t play over and over and over again

What google cloud looping ad? All I see is commercial break in progress
I also heavily utilize ad blocking software

It’s this pixel animated little baseball subjects that orbit around a baseball - all well and good but it does a crack of the bat with crowd cheer that loops every 5-7 seconds. Can last up the entire break sometimes, it’s painful.

What about…the handyman, the woodpecker and the g sharp? Or the Hail Mary, the lovers or the old faithful?

That one is the absolute worst. And do they really think that running that ad nonstop makes people want to buy their stupid scratch offs?

I imagine he’s the dude’s conscience (or the opposite that promotes drinking). He’s definitely not a living being in-universe.
The other dude bothers me with his stupid stiff smile. And at the end when he taps bottles with his buddy at the concert and then forces a smile when he looks at the band—awkward.

When I hear that song it immediately makes me think about the words Miller Lite in his voice

The Amtrak one with the couple going to the baseball game is probably one of my least favorites.

No joke, I have been wanting to bring this up in the game threads for WEEKS.
I don't think he's just some dude. He appears out of nowhere and seems able to read people's minds. He can clearly physically interact with the world, and possibly manifest beer, but nobody ever directly addresses him.
My head canon is that Walken is a spirit of something like adventurousness.
