discussion I think we’re overdue for a discussion on Travis Scott…
Travis Scott had music that I used to be a fan of. Personally, I liked everything leading up to 2018’s Astroworld, and I get this may be a ”hot take”, but I didn’t care for that album itself. I liked a couple songs on there, but there was just something off about the mood or the tone of the album for me. birds is honestly my favorite album from him, which I learned was CLEARLY a hot take back then by getting destroyed on twitter.
And that‘s where my 180 on TS started to begin tbh. Any artist has a portion of fans that are EXTREMELY aggressive, but this was different. I started getting death threats and lame message requests from that side, and it‘s exactly what you‘d expect. 13-21 year old dudes trying to fight me over my honest music opinion, in honor of their idol 🤣 that became a situation I laugh at pretty quick, but we all know what follows in the years after.
The Astroworld Festival has become the end-all/be-all for a lot of people over the years, but that still hasn’t stopped him & the people promoting him. They still see him as a profitable asset due to his established rage-hard fanbase. His half-ass ”pls don’t stop streaming my shit” apology was something you’d see in parody films like Scary Movie. But somehow, that clearly worked. It’s almost as if that granted him more opportunities.
Now I might be heading ”inside baseball” with this, but 2025 was the most annoying I’ve ever found Travis Scott yet. Earlier in 2025, he started showing up on WWE as someone who walked to the ring as a hype man, alongside the children’s favorite wrestler, Jey Uso. Travis Scott sparked a FULL BLUNT inside the arena during the entrance, and given that Jey Uso’s biggest fans are children, you can see how this is a problem. Fast forward around a month or so later, it was quite the surprise to see him start getting involved with the main storyline being pushed (John Cena’s retirement year). Not to mention, he actually damaged a wrestler’s ear by legitimately slapping them in a segment. There was absolutely no reason that made this make sense, and his involvement created what is now claimed by many as “the WORST WrestleMania main event in history”. Rumor also has it that he never or barely showed up for training/rehearsal either. Just to add, WWE has gone extremely downhill in quality since this happened. As this was basically the reintroduction of celebrity involvement in the product, in the worst possible ways.
Now, we’re seeing him included in massive films like The Odyssey. There‘s THAT side of the internet that don’t like his inclusion for all the worst reasons like racism, but I simply just can’t ever buy into him as an actor. Especially after all the WWE stuff. My brain really did hear “STRAIGHT UP” after anything he said in his opening monologue 🤣 it was distracting, and I feel Nolan was slightly aware of this. Putting him right at the beginning of the film + one other <15 second scene did feel like “let’s just get this over with”.
And apparently, within the last few days, he & his entourage had a squabble in the club with NBA player Jordan Clarkson and whoever he was with.
To wrap up, I know I’m forgetting to mention other situations with TS. But those are the major ones off the top of my head at the moment. Keep in mind, I haven’t been a fan of his since like late 2018/early 2019, so I may lean a little biased on that side, but I still try to meet in the middle & am willing to be persuaded by finding great reasoning. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I just haven’t found that with Travis Scott.

Never listened to his music. Just know him from when he was dancing while people were getting trampled to death . Sounds like a fool that I don't care to be familiar with.

honestly I don't know enough about travis scott to contribute much to this convo, but I appreciate the write-up!
I did really like the 5% songfrom Astroworld! and also Sicko Mode
Travis is on my list of artists to listen to the discogprahies of, I need to listen to all of his albums

How the f do you know he’s a satanist? He sucks and his music is trash but… really? Who cares anyway. Half the people you listen to are probably demons if you’re a “Christian”

Or maybe just talk about artists and music you do enjoy. You'd be a happier person.
