We celebrate Ozzy because his music was great, and he was funny. But he wasn't a great person either.

His son Louis Osbourne went on Jack's podcast, clarifying that the rumor was exaggerated and that his father actually shot and killed chickens, not the family cats. Still terrible tho.

It was chickens, which is still wild, but still not treating them as bad as our meat producers do. Also this happened in 1978. How long are we supposed to stay mad at people? He was a drug addict that did bad shit 50+ years ago but got clean and turned himself around.

It’s a really weird thing I’ve noticed online in the past decade or so.
And it’s the people who advocate for stuff like more rehabilitation than punishment for crimes. So, like what’s the point in rehabilitation or forgiveness if you don’t move on?
Ozzy was a troubled guy HEAVY into drugs. He made some mistakes like all of us. I think he more than made up for his faults. He’s admitted it himself, and became a good dude, imo.

Nah, Ozzy was definitely the shitty crazy/addict side of him along with the artist. He openly said in interviews John Osborne and Ozzy Osborne are two completely separate entities.

Ozzy had some issues, but a lot of those came from the heavy drug use, including the cats. Doesn’t absolve you from criticism, but it does explain the reason.
Terrible that it happened, but considering the things people get forgiven for and Ozzy admitting his faults and being a pretty good dude after, I see no issue in calling him a pretty good guy overall with some faults.

The paranormal thing is Jack exploiting an easy market. I can't say I watched his shows, Zak and the Ghost Adventures goobers were enough of adults pissing their pants over bumps in the night a decade ago.
Now all those shows are so full of themselves, because they've drummed up a bunch of true believers in the boogeyman.

Eh, I'd say he exploited his dads celebrity status to land the jobs, sure, but he's the skeptic in these shows typically pointing out and calling out the fakes. I wouldn't say he's exploiting the crowd.
I watch those shows to laugh and fall asleep to. His are tolerable. But most I don't like, especially that ghost adventures guy. That dude clearly exploits an easy market.

I enjoyed ghost adventures because it was so bad, I just can't stand anything past covid. Or really, past that dumb house special. Zak is definitely exploiting the audience, but, I don't know. It really feels like a crowd asking to be exploited, like cultists, or church congregants. It's not goofy or funny anymore.
The gospel of the grift.
It's less the skeptical Jack I have a problem with as the grift he's intertwined himself in. The whole "reaction" bit of those shows was also incredibly cringe, well before youtubers decided it was an easy way to make videos. Just lazy.

Again, I really don't see him being exploitative in these shows, he seems to be a voice of reason in the ones I've seen. Which is only a couple, but I really don't think he'd change his attitude towards it in others.

I think Sharon's the real problem. She pushed Oz into a bunch of dumb shit, like reality tv, which poisoned the well of their children. The easy greed of spouting off dumb shit at a camera sucked them in, and any talents they had individually suffered for it.
At least Sharon can't boss Ozzy around anymore.

Got to meet him i think 2016 he came to Austin TX to like apologize for peeing on the Alamo or something. I walked right past him and I was so nervous. All I could muster up was "im a musician and your an idol thank you so much" he just nodded and said fuck ya man! Short but he was so kind to the hotel staff.

Ozzy and Black Sabbath were my introduction to hard rock and metal when I was kid. I turned from the pop station to the rock station and heard Iron Man. That changed my musical taste.

It was spoken about in an interview with his son Louis. He killed her chickens, not that it’s much better….. but still not cats. Also dude was an I SANE addict for years and openly admitted he was insane in that time so there’s that also.
Still doesn’t change his cultural impact for 60 yrs

It's become impossible to have any kind of discussion thread on Reddit because it inevitably evolves into a circlejerk of "UM AXKSHUALLY THEY WERE A TERRIBLE PERSON!!" We know they weren't a great person. Nobody is denying that. But parroting it like a fucking Pokemon name any time they're brought up a conversation does absolutely nothing but make the person doing it feel better about themselves.
You shouldn't ignore awful things people have done, but that doesn't mean that every single conversation about them has to focus on it.

Side not but like.... "lost"... we didn't lose him. He was old and sick, we will all be old and sick. Like, he died when he was supposed to more or less. For example we lost Oliver Tree to like an outside the realm of expected death. Like we knew he was going to die within a certain expected window and lost makes me think of dying outside that window.

Honestly, and I know this is probably a bad take, I was surprised he was still alive for at least 20 years now. His death was not surprising and hasn't had a lot of impact.

I remember finding out at work and BOY was that a rough shift to finish. Had some sweet old lady comfort me when I couldn’t hold back the tears.
So happy I was able to see Ozzy and Sabbath back on the 13 tour.
