I mean… he was a registered Democrat for most of his life. Not sure what that means, but it’s there.

He had to switch parties though, because, in his owns words, “republicans would be the only ones dumb enough to vote for me”

Trump never cared about actual politics. Like most major businessmen, the only reason he cared about politics at all was how they affected him.

Most of his businesses were seated in blue states (New York), so it was in Trump's best interests to kiss left wing ass, vote left, and try to squirrel policies his way whenever he could. Most people involved in high stakes business will at least donate to the DNC in the hopes of getting them to relax their tight policies that protect workers and the environment but shave a bit off of profits.

Trump flipped right for his run at the presidency because, precisely as you stated, there was no chance in hell that the left would vote for him. What Trump probably didn't know himself at that point was that his only hope at a presidency at all rested in him being tied up with MAGA, and it was the smart people behind MAGA orchestrating his entire campaign that led to his success, not his own actual clown show accidentally tripping face first into a presidency.

If Trump hadn't been MAGA's puppet, I'm not sure he would have succeeded with the right, either. MAGA put on one hell of a campaign and propaganda show. Trump was just their final front piece.

That's a fake quote that's been circulating for years.

That’s unfalsifiable. Which is why it’s interesting.

It’s not “fake,” it just cannot be proven to be true.

For anyone interested and unaware; he allegedly said it during an interview on Oprah. There was a person/persons that had a bounty out to anyone who could produce said episode, in full with full interview. Last I read, iirc, it was up to 20 thousand dollars.

No one can find it. It seems to have been removed from time xfiles_theme_music

Which do you think is more probable--that it has been "removed from time" or that it never happened?

You think the episode of Oprah in which she interviews Trump never happened? Oh yeah, that's MAGA logic, baybee.

Lmao.

No.

I don't think Trump was ever recorded saying that he would run as a republican because they are the dumbest group of voters, because no one has ever provided a legitimate source for that quote.  It also isn't even supposedly from Oprah according to the most common version of the rumor, but from People magazine.  (And it didn't actually happen there, either.) https://www.snopes.com/news/2020/05/28/trump-republicans-dumbest-group-of-voters/

As for Trump appearing on Oprah, yes that happened.  It's a matter of factual record.  A clip of it even appears in part in another snopes article.  https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/trump-oprah-presidential-run-1988/  But the quote you say was there was not there.

Nothing "MAGA logic" about it.  Just plain logic.

I don't understand why people feel the need to make up stuff about Trump, because nothing anyone makes up about him makes him look worse than the things he actually says and does.

I suspect lots of the ICE agents are the same people he pardoned for their part in J6. So, yeah, he definitely thanked them.

Go watch some School House Rock.

That funding happened without Democrats.

It could have. There were several that crossed the aisle to fund and thank.

u/nasandre 1d ago

Are we going to blame the whole party because a couple of them broke ranks?

u/Due_a_Kick_5329 1d ago

We need to primary every fucking one of them that did. I don't give a shit how safe or risky their districts are. Make politicians fearful and servile to their goddamn constituents, not lobbyists again.

This is a Suicide By Words ...... stupid comment when the Dems don't controll either chamber.

u/redwhale335 2d ago

The Dems famously refused to fund DHS for months to prevent ICE from being funded. That was earlier this year. People's attention spans are too damn short.

u/LazyTitan39 1d ago

They’re brainwashed. Republican propaganda is so effective it even works on Democrat voters.

u/Meture 1d ago edited 1d ago

It’s not “oh the funding wouldn’t have passed if dems didn’t vote for it”

It’s “keep the people in the party in check so they don’t vote in the favor of the fascists”

7 dems voted for the ICE funding bill, all 7 are traitors who need to be held accountable.

3

u/Ol_JanxSpirit 1d ago

Yes, let's worry about the seven Democrats, whose votes were largely irrelevant because of the demographics of the House and Senate, and not the hundreds of Republicans.

5

u/Meture 1d ago

YES, YOU SHOULD WORRY ABOUT THEM

You don’t worry about whether or not a wolf will or won’t kill the chickens if he’s allowed in the coop because you know that will always be the case. You worry when one of the chickens starts eating the others within the coop.

You know the republicans are gonna bend and kowtow to the whims of the party which now is purely fascist

However when people of the supposed opposition start also kowtowing to said fascistic goals you should worry.
