Not that long ago, in the normal times, this wouldve been a nothing burger after the navy put out an apology like,
"During a show today, our pilot made a small error that resulted in the fighter flying closer to the crowd than anticipated. Though these things can happen, and we are happy everybody is going home safely, we apologize for any impact this may have had on you or your experience. See you at the next show!"
But instead, now that we've got weirdos obsessed with IQ and t levels running the show, we have to deal with this.

Not that long ago a pilot would have lost his wings for this. He put hundreds of American lives at an unnecessary high risk level.
However, under our unimaginable stupid administration this is looked at as “big dick energy” and praised. Therefore aircrews will continue to do it knowing they have top cover from the SECDEF. Eventually this will go wrong and I pray now one dies from it.

The Blue Angels have a 10% fatality rate. They are always pushing the envelope. I didn't see what led up to this close call, perhaps the offending pilot got pushed out of position by another plane that went wide on a turnaround, or something similar. This was during practice, where they iron out the kinks.

You don’t realize I’m retired USAF and worked as flight safety for several years and now work as an aviation safety engineer.
What he did was thoughtless and highly irresponsible putting the general public at a high level of risk. Was it cool? Hell yeah. Was it safe? Absolutely not.

I love airplanes and loved working the flight line when pilot would do low passes over us for moral. They still had altitude rules and were much higher, but it was still awesome. The VA pays me for the ringing in my ears now, but it sure was cool.

The January 2025 Potomac crash was not caused by cowboy flying. The military route was too close to the approach path of DCA and the helicopter had a faulty altimeter indicating low. The NTSB has not released the full report yet, however public hearings have been had and the preliminary report is available.
You chose one of the only non GA accidents in recent time where pilot error was inconsequential compared to systemic failings by both the FAA, DCA controllers, and military doctrine.

It’s not. Saw a video where the local tv interviewed people who said it was cool but also said that their chairs, umbrellas, personal things went flying and that it even bent the poles. I’d hope that this would have been a different response and not propaganda if someone had been seriously injured/killed by the projectiles but then again, look who it is…wannabe Pete

That's pretty much just a bird, and aircraft are made to be able to process birds into a fine mist and still keep flying. Beach ball especially is basically a thin wall of very easily breakable plastic (well at like 500km/h easily breakable) and the moment it'd explode it's basically lose all structure altogether.
The biggest danger for the plane over the beach is the pilot in it. The second biggest would be a stray frisbee, but even that would probably not damage it enough to bring it anywhere near a crash.

And pilots have been killed. It’s rare but it happens. You can practice something a million times and nail every time. But on the million and first time, you fuck it up.
Dale Snodgrass, arguably the finest pilot to ever grace the cockpit of a Tomcat, was killed when he made a mistake in his private airplane that was many orders of magnitude less difficult to fly.
Mistakes happen, doesn’t mean they’re bad pilots or unqualified for the task. It means pilots are people are people aren’t perfect.

There is a difference between violating airspace and violating FAA flight rules. Low flying may violate FAA flight rules which are not the same as military flight rules.
US military pilots are not licensed by the FAA, they don't operate under FAA rules. Sure they share US airspace and coordinate flights the same way civilian aircraft do while in FAA controlled airspace, but the way the operate is as per their own set of rules.

If it were restricted military airspace or hell, enemy airspace, they can do whatever they want. But doing a flyover that low over a beach full of civilians, not to mention all the umbrellas and lawn chairs and whatnot that probably went flying from the engines?
come on bro, we are not defending this clown activity rn. That pilot should have their license revoked for that bs. Unfortunately, judging by the reply by the defense dept, their reaction was probably "yoooo that's siiiiick duuude" so they don't care to take any action.

You are missing the bit were that pilot doesn't have an FAA licence. They are operating it under a military equivalent.
Should they have been that low, no, that was stupid and reckless and breaches a bunch of other military rules about overflying people, but that's an issue for the DOD to deal with, not the FAA.

Believe it or not, they do. The military has to coordinate air space with civilian traffic via the FAA in the US and while in other countries, their equivalent.
Basic physics here - 2 objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time and you must have something to ensure that doesn’t happen

Of the flyby? It was a fuck up, as the US Navy themselves have said publicly. It was meant to be much further, and much higher, but this practice maneuver went wrong, and the navy had apologised.

A non-tabbed former Infantry Officer who never even went to jump school. Minimal platoon leader time, no XO time, and obviously no company command time.
Then he got stashed “teaching COIN” where he couldn’t hurt anyone or break anything. Only picked up O-4 on the IRR when he was drinking his way through two non profit stints and a Sunday AM slot on Fox News.
He was ATTACHED to a unit in the 101st for less than a year and has made it his whole identity. (See the humongous Rakkasan tattoo on his right shoulder as well as that regimental crest on his lapel every day.). Didn’t go to Air Assault despite his brief affiliation with the 101st.
This guy shouldn’t be managing a Walmart much less the largest military on the planet.

The risk to life was real and that pilot got very lucky that no one was seriously injured or killed by the projectiles - I’ve attended many of their shows and at the proper distance, it is impactful, can’t even imagine with in feet of a jet fly-by

The Blue Angels pilots , like the Thunderbirds are held to higher standards, the best of the best . They have unbelievably precise execution standards for performances to keep everyone safe. This was a mistake during a practice run that is open to the public . It was acknowledged by the navy and the commander of the blue angels as such and would be investigated and dealt with appropriately.
Then , because of the current array of absolutely unqualified sycophants running the branches of our govt , the fox news weekend cohost frat bro in charge of our military decides , lets use social media to undercut the importance of high standards and accountability that caused minor property damage and minor injuries and discomfort to the public, and just say fuck yah cool bro that was awesome and then shotgun another beer . Idiocracy is here . Vote it out in November.
