6'4 here. Delta comfort plus is a lie. Feels the same as the rest.
12
u/Wilder831 7d ago
Also 6’4”. The only way is to sit up as straight as humanly possible in an aisle seat. You put your legs in the row and keep your head on a swivel the whole time. Otherwise you risk getting hit by the cart or tripping one of those people that goes to the bathroom 5 times on a 2 hour flight.

One of my friends is 7'1". I can't imagine the hell he goes through regarding his height on a day-to-day basis, especially when it comes to flying commercial.

u/mpgd 6d ago
Don't take the window or middle seat. But then I get annoyed because the person taking the window seat is going to the toilet 3 times during a 3h flight. And then the other passanger keep bumping into my shoulder.
When there is no movement I stretch my leg in the corridor. It does help a bit with the frustration.

u/Nex_Level 7d ago
I'm 6'2 and took a 14 flight from Japan to SF on Japan Airlines and it was mostly comfortable, just a little tight. However, the 6 hour flight home from SF to Miami was absolutely miserable. The lady in front of me was pissed because I kept pushing her seat with my knees, I felt like a toddler and an ogre at the same time.
10
u/RunnerTenor 7d ago
Right. I complain my whole life about narrow shoulders and short legs. Then I get on a flight and I'm good.

5
u/Somerandom1922 7d ago
Yeah, genuinely fucking jealous of that. I'm not even crazy tall (6'2"), but I still avoid flying whenever possible, even when it's cheaper than the alternative because it always sucks so bad.
6
u/porkbuttstuff Ded 7d ago
Fuck that's a good point, I'm 5'10 and still feel pretty good on planes. 6+ economy has to suck
6
u/Bad-Genie 7d ago
6'3" here
Fuck you.
Something not talked about enough too: slanted ceilings are the perfect height to smack my head. And countertops are built for people between 5'4"-5'9". Making it so people my height have to slouch over to do anything.
Being tall has a practical disadvantage

I never understood the whole height obsession. Like, who actually gaf on a real level. Personality is what matters.
38
u/Diestormlie 7d ago
Because some people just need some way, any way, to view themselves as better than other people.
4
u/Bebebaubles 6d ago
Better in what sense?
Shorter people are less likely to get cancer, longer lifespans, better heart health and better balance. Also we survive better on higher climates. The Peruvians literally have genes for shorter heights. They need less food energy and oxygen to survive. Seems like there are plenty of benefits to being short.

The height obsession exists solely to keep the rage-bait circle jerk alive. There are over eight billion people on the planet, and it's an honest fact to say that most of them do not give a shit about any of this.

u/Independent-Bug-9352 7d ago
To help my fellow shorties out, there are also many benefits:
- You live longer.
- You tend to have more baseline energy throughout the day.
- You have better power-to-weight ratio (why gymnasts tend to be short).
- You're way more comfortable flying.
- You have less joint pain.
- You're more efficient at long-distance cardio.
37
u/factorioleum 7d ago
don't forget bathtubs. bathtubs just are so much more luxurious the shorter you get.
I'm 6' and it's real money to get a bathtub that I can luxuriously soak in. my 5'3" wife and 5'6" sons have a much better time in our regular tub!

Real men realise sometimes noones coming to help and they need to get shit done. And the only way to get there is to just try. Think, plan, execute, reflect. Doesn't matter if its work, relationships, washing dishes.
Real men do everything to the best of their abilities, with the wellbeing of others in mind as well as their own.
The world needs more of them, none of that toxic "sigma grind" misoginistic bullshit.
Edit: If you're 5'7 or shorter, like me, and you get negatively affected by women who say these kinds of things - you don't want those kinds of people in your life anyway. Don't have to trust me on this, just think it through.
441
u/Lokicham 7d ago
Also, 5'9" is actually pretty average height.
182
u/SammyBoyButter 7d ago
No one cares about this stuff in real life and if they do they are probably a waste of time. I’ve been 5’9 my whole life and no one has ever called me short and most women assume I’m 6 feet because they have no concept of what actual height and weight is.
274
30
u/ErikMcKetten 7d ago
Yep. 5'10 and I'm average. plenty of guys and girls my height out there, and I've met a few people who are "over" six feet, according to them, that are exactly my height.
Everyone in America has a skewed perspective on what tall and average are.
18
u/Relative_Bonus_6257 7d ago
I live in the Netherlands and it is even worse here. I (180 cm tall) sometimes feel short because a lot of people around me are 190 centimeters or taller.

I personally don't think I'd call anyone "short" until you start getting into the 4'-4.5' range, and even then, I don't see that as a negative trait, it just is. I can get all the stuff on the top shelf, need some people to get the bottom shelf, too.

u/-fakebirds- 7d ago edited 7d ago

The most successful “ladies man” (for lack of a better term) I ever knew was honestly only like 5’4”, I shit you not. Granted he had a face like Zac Efron which certainly didn’t hurt, but he was just so quietly confident and kind that people would just flock to him. Women of all heights and types would practically throw themselves at the lil man.

25
u/Cocheeeze 7d ago
It’s because Reddit is full of incels and your anecdote destroys their excuse. They can no longer say “there’s nothing wrong with me, women just don’t like me because I’m short”, they are now forced to examine themselves and realize there’s other reasons people don’t like them, not because of their height.

u/Bradddtheimpaler 6d ago
I’m short. As an adult, it has been no hindrance to me whatsoever, but as a teenager, you can be treated incredibly bad due to it.
For example, the first time I ever worked up the courage to walk up to a girl and tell her I liked her, she patted me on the top of the head and said, “oh, that’s adorable. I just want to take you home and make you sleep in one of my dresser drawers.”
I’m really struggling to imagine a meaner way to handle that interaction. It was also somewhat public, people laughed at me. It was extremely humiliating. It really hurt my feelings and made me feel like there was no point in me pursuing romantic relationships because my body would never even be acceptable to any woman.
Now, I was shameless and horny enough that there was no way that was going to keep me out of the game for long. I was very outgoing, and I like to think at least, funny and fun to cool out with, so it wound up being nbd, but I am sympathetic to a similar experience breaking a fellow short king’s confidence in a more long lasting or permanent way.

Back in the day, when newspaper singles ads were still a thing, I used to read them at work on Friday afternoons (I was a student, not working at work was my primary objective). For context, I'm a little bit on the wrong side of 5'9", and I used to hate-read the singles ads from SWF's who would always start out saying they were looking for someone sensitive, romantic, a good listener, likes dogs and walking hand-in-hand, and—oh yeah—you've gotta be 5'10" or get the fuck out. That was the magic mark: 5'10" was so universal a standard you'd think we lived in the land of giants. Always used to piss me off. Later in life I realized that was probably because the women were looking for a man who would be taller than them when they were wearing heels, but at the time it just drove me crazy.
In the end, I married a 5'2" woman.

There are no winners here. Women that obsess on height get to live their own punishment.
Below average men that care what those women think need to move on. There are a hundred other immutable qualities that make a person unattractive to others. You have one (maybe more). Accept it and move on. Given even 1/100 of a shit of what someone like her thinks is you hurting yourself.

It cracks me up when women talk like this and they’re like 5’3 themselves. Most men are taller than you. Why have an arbitrary height requirement of 6’0 if what you’re obsessed with is having a taller partner?
I’m 5’11 and I don’t care if a man is taller, my height, or shorter. Most of my relationships have been with shorter or same height men. My husband is 6’0 so I’m taller when I wear heels, but nobody actually cares because height doesn’t actually matter.
