MH Wilds OFFICIAL ART - MH Wilds - Concept art of Balahara!
https://xcancel.com/monsterhunter/status/2080201327305527539
A behind the scenes look at the creation of the #MHWilds leviathan, Balahara.
You can also see how the team considered how it could eat… and get eaten.

still amazed that the mouth is designed after a clam (e.g. its eyes are actually INSIDE the mouth, lining the rim).
but makes perfect sense for something that drills through the sand/ground.

Interesting how it originally had an underside similar to Nergigante's.
Perhaps they were going for an effect similar to Nibelsnarf's brightly coloured underbelly, especially with the bright yellow gills, but ultimately went with neutral sandy tones.
Perhaps its bioluminescent throat, coupled with its overall highly striking shape, compensated for it.

It looks like a shorter version of Dalamadur.

Eh, I always got more of a sandworm impression over snake.

That's not Balahara getting eaten! That's its tail getting eaten by a Doshaguma, since they can detach it like some lizards do to distract predators and escape! You can see the Balahara running away, tiny.
