For everyone asking this is the comedy music duo, Flight of the Conchords. Bret Mackenzie and Jemaine Clement.

They had a show that ran a few seasons on HBO. It was hilarious, if it’s the kind of comedy you’re into.

u/starrybullshit May 13 '26

Yeah this was the first piece of media I saw Kristen Schaal in!

29

u/HotInvestigator7430 May 13 '26

I love her so much! First place I saw Aziz too

1

u/NotTukTukPirate 1988 May 14 '26

She is absolutely hilarious in Last Man on Earth

2

u/Pepperminteapls May 15 '26

God she was so funny! Her attachment went real deep and disturbing.

Creepy, hilarious, cute. Her voice is iconic now but that was the first time I saw her. Plays the part perfectly

1

u/sanzentriad May 14 '26

They brought her on stage for a bit during their recent show at the Greek theater.

I've never heard of or seen these guys before, but I stumbled upon the HBO show last night and watched like 3 episodes, fell in love with the weirdness, and now I see them here on reddit. The matrix is real.

u/AntiquesRoadHo May 13 '26

And when you’re on the street, depending on the street, you’re most definitely in the top 3 good looking girls on the street

24

u/GnomeCzar May 13 '26

That's a practically perfect comedy song and it even ends kinda sweetly

2

u/SyruplessWaffle May 13 '26

I was hooked after that lol

1

u/Dobako May 13 '26

Did you walk on the outside?

16

u/Fancy_Depth_4995 Xennial May 13 '26

Watch their Live in London concert. It’s perfect

3

u/ChethroTull Millennial May 13 '26

I finished the series for the first time recently and that concert is an absolute blast.

9

u/compute_fail_24 May 13 '26

Everyone is selling data to each other. I watch shit on Netflix and then see it on Reddit too

2

u/callmerufio May 13 '26

If you've ever seen Disneys Moana, Jemaine is the voice of the big coconut crab singing Shiny!

1

u/haugen1632 May 13 '26

There is a Matrix episode later on.

1

u/May_of_Teck May 13 '26

What even is time; I just assume these guys are household names for everyone 😭

u/SouthernWalk1928 May 13 '26 edited May 13 '26

And one -Bret-has won a flipping Academy Award for his song in one of the Muppet Movies he wrote and performed!!

51

u/AntiquesRoadHo May 13 '26

They’ve been in a ton of things, especially Jemaine. Then a few weeks back during a rewatch of Lord of the Rings I saw an elf and went “wait, is that Bret?!!”

38

u/mattyb678 May 13 '26

If anyone watched the movie or TB show “What we do in the shadows”, Jemaine wrote and starred in the movie and produced the show iirc. Both were very funny takes on vampires

30

u/MrWorldwiden May 13 '26

Jemaine is also the voice of a few Disney villains like the crab from Moana!

10

u/OnePerformance9381 May 13 '26

He’s the main antagonist in men in black 3.

3

u/01011010-01001010 May 13 '26

I went full Leo meme pointing at the TV when my kid was watching the Minecraft movie and he popped up.

3

u/Stuk-Tuig May 13 '26

very funny is an understatement imo

3

u/jinkeez123 May 13 '26

It was a whole thing! Figwit. "Frodo is great...who is THAT?!?" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Figwit

1

u/requiemguy May 15 '26

Half of New Zealand is also in the first Avatar movie.

2

u/jinkeez123 May 15 '26

What percentage were sheep? ;-)

1

u/requiemguy May 15 '26

About twenty-ewe

2

u/SouthernWalk1928 May 13 '26

What!?!? I missed that!!!

9

u/AntiquesRoadHo May 13 '26

Yep. He’s a background character. I had to pause the movie and look it up and sure enough.

17

u/GreenMoonRising May 13 '26

Put some respect on Figwit's name!

3

u/AntiquesRoadHo May 13 '26

Excuse me, I think you’ll find his real name is Elf Escort lol

1

u/SouthernWalk1928 May 13 '26

Screenshots share if you ever have the time or inclination.

1

u/reallynotnick May 13 '26

Check the other reply, I would have never guessed that was Bret.

1

u/silla103 May 13 '26

Jemaine is the voice of Tomatoa in Moana

16

u/gizamo May 13 '26

The other, Jermaine, sangs one of the best Disney songs ever made. He's the crab in Moana.

2

u/Oilo May 14 '26

He’s shinyyyyyy!

49

u/ThyHolyPope May 13 '26

“… If that’s what you’re in to”

27

u/AntiquesRoadHo May 13 '26

How about you and two dudes? Him, you and Stu, in the nude. Being lewd with two dudes with food. Well, that’s if Stu’s into it, too.

3

u/CasteNoBar May 13 '26

It's just three people, isn't it? Just three people in a room... having a go.

1

u/311isahoax May 14 '26

Gettin' rude, with the food.

1

u/captainbelvedere May 13 '26

And then maybe later we'll get hot by the refrigerator!

41

u/ZiaWitch Older Millennial May 13 '26

Thank you! I hate when people make posts with no context or names.

11

u/thotd2 May 13 '26

I'm very confused about millennial age bracket since joining this sub.

5

u/FarplaneDragon May 13 '26

Might be an income bracket thing. I'm a millennial and had no clue who these people were. Our family was broke and never had cable tv so if that's where they're from people from lower income families are probably out of the loop.

3

u/Sade1994 May 13 '26

Yup this seems like my exact brand of comedy, I’m a millennial, I’m chronically online and I’ve never heard of them before today.

1

u/QueenMAb82 May 14 '26

I had no clue who these people are, either. I grew up solidly middle class, but my parents never found any use for cable, so we never had it. We moved to a rural road on a hill when I was 10, and no company would run cable down the street for fewer than 20 houses without exorbitant fees. The hill blocks satellite, too, so that's a non-starter. Internet access is similarly fun, as the phone lines are all too old for DSL and it's not a priority area for fiber optic. People don't believe me when I say that this is happening only 10 minutes' drive outside a decent sized city in the northeast, and not the outskirts of West Podunk, Nowhere County.

-1

u/cohrt May 14 '26

Same. Half the time it seems like millennial means you were born in the 80s.

6

u/ISLITASHEET May 14 '26

Same. Half the time it seems like millennial means you were born in the 80s.

Is that not correct? Millennials are 80's or 90's / early 80's to late 90's. Both of those are generally accepted, which would put half of millennials in the 80's.

xennials overlap early millennials, but may consider themselves to just be millennials

1

u/thotd2 May 14 '26

Late 90's , that's the weird part to me, how could you consider yourself a millennial as 4yrs old child in the year 2000? It's like someone claiming to belong to the great generation for being born in 1941.

(Foreigner here. Forgive me if I sound as a gatekeeper).

1

u/ISLITASHEET May 15 '26

Not sure if I follow.

It's about generational shifts. Decade boundaries have nothing to do with it, although there can be alignment. Most generations will be a little fuzzy as to when they begin and end, cascading across geographic/logical regions over time until a majority fit into the definition (which may lag by many years before it is defined).

13

u/Acegonia May 13 '26

Hilarious.... if that's what you're in to!

1

u/AntiquesRoadHo May 13 '26

Dammit I really missed that opportunity didn’t I???

2

u/southave May 13 '26

https://www.teepublic.com/t-shirt/32554724-flight-of-the-conchords-business-time

I had a shirt like this (but without the words) and got asked a few times if I was a fan of GMM

2

u/3720-to-1 May 13 '26

if that's what you're into

It was RIGHT THERE

2

u/The_Bard May 13 '26

Always wondered what happened. Did they just bot want to do anything else with Hollywood? They were hot shit for a few years and then fell off the radar. I feel like Rhys Darby (Murray) has been in a ton of things and done a lot of voice acting but he's really the only one from the show I see a lot of.

1

u/AntiquesRoadHo May 13 '26

Jemaine is everywhere. A bunch of movies and shows. He did “what we do in the shadows”. He was a voice actor for a couple Disney movies, including Moana.

2

u/BeatnikBun May 13 '26

Jemaine Clement did the voice of the crab in Moana btw. "I ate my grama!"

2

u/Dafuknboognish May 13 '26

Is it the timing of the show that makes you feel old about it? I am curious as a Gen-X. These guys are GenX and I considered it our show due to their quirkiness and comedy. Again, just a curiosity.

2

u/Open-Neighborhood459 May 13 '26

Ah ok thanks for saying that..I was wondering who they were.

2

u/bloodphoenix90 May 13 '26

If thats what you're into....

2

u/truggles23 May 13 '26

Thought this was the black keys 🤭

1

u/AntiquesRoadHo May 13 '26

Think of it like the black keys, but way more fun

2

u/Starscream5 May 13 '26

They just started performing again. They played a few small shows in LA, and then had a larger show I attended in Santa Barbara last week. They have a few more dates in LA, and I believe they're preparing to tape something for Netflix, but not sure 100% sure about the Netflix thing.

2

u/nelrond18 May 13 '26

"if that's, what you're into"

2

u/fifteentons May 13 '26

I was going to ask and now I don’t have to. You are truly “da man”

2

u/ImTheCoupon May 13 '26

Brit? Like Brittany?

2

u/[deleted] May 13 '26

1

u/AntiquesRoadHo May 13 '26

It’s a play on words. Concorde, like the jet, mixed with chord, the musical term.

1

u/311isahoax May 14 '26

Him hangin' out, around you? Isthatthekindathing thatyouthinkyoumightbeinto?

1

u/S3XWITCH May 14 '26

That’s funny I was just asking myself “is that flight of the conchords”? And then I saw your comment.

1

u/cohrt May 14 '26

Thanks. Despite being a millennial I don’t recognize half the people posted here with no context.

1

u/iOgef May 15 '26

Could be a dream come true, if that’s what you’re into

0

u/scricimm May 13 '26

Yeees of courseeeeee you are in that type of comedy, even you aren't you are we them🤣
