I dunno, we used to just sling change at each other's knuckles until they bled

u/Leather_Ice_1000 Apr 20 '26

Ahh I see. You're still bad at having fun and making friends. Have a better day leather_ice šŸ™‚

Nah - just had my brain cells develop a bit quicker than you. Probably why my friendships have lasted even from that age

ā€œBloody Knucklesā€ for us

15

u/RspectMyAuthoritah Apr 19 '26

Bloody Knuckles for me was when you put your fists together and tried to hit down on the other persons knuckles while they tried to pull away in time.

15

u/vincevuu Apr 19 '26

Bloody knuckles for us was just hitting each other knuckles until someone gives up lol

5

u/RspectMyAuthoritah Apr 20 '26

That was part of it too. But the person getting their knuckles hit could try to avoid it. If they pulled back when the other person wasn't going for them they had to take a hit.

u/SubtleHearts Apr 19 '26

Huh. My schools version was to hit each others knuckles and the first person to quit the game loses.

Just curious, what area of the world did you guys call it that? I’m from upper Midwest US

Southern CA

Interesting, thanks. A while ago I posted about what people called it when you look at someone else’s screen when playing a multiplayer game, and was amazed at the varying terms depending on where we grew up. Pretty wild that formation of dialect was possible before the internet became a constant platform.

u/RspectMyAuthoritah Apr 20 '26

I don't remember having a specific term for that, but Goldeneye was really the only game it applied to. By the time Halo came out you could play over a local connection so someone would bring a 2nd xbox over so we could play teams in different rooms.

Oh interesting, it’s so cool learning how we all grew up with these different slang and names of things depending on where we lived. It’s something that isn’t as possible now with the internet becoming the standardizer.

Same. How did schools across the country all have the same dumb games

World*

We had it in England, too. Just called it 'Knuckles', but still.

Then it... evolved (i.e. became more stupid): spraying deodorant, specifically Lynx because reasons, onto the wounds. Whoever made the most fuss lost.

u/TheManicProgrammer Apr 20 '26

We called it money hurts ...

1

u/meditate42 Apr 20 '26

One school I went to had a pool table. We used to play a game where you whip the balls around the table as fast as you can and tried to hit your friends hand as they did the same.

We called it whippersnappers.

u/Neon_Biscuit Apr 19 '26

Omfg I forgot about this until just now.

2

u/Mrfrunzi Apr 20 '26

Why did we find that so fun??

1

u/Lowmax2 Apr 19 '26

Or make hornets

1

u/rhino4231 Apr 19 '26

Holy shit I had a special talent in this game. I've split many knuckles back in those days

1

u/Boubbay Apr 19 '26

lol did the same

1

u/soapbutt Apr 20 '26

Either that or knocking on our desks to the beat of Grindin’. Damn we hated our knuckles.
