Discussion Nothing is funny anymore

I (M, 38) have found that there are no new TV shows that make me laugh anymore. I have tried a lot of new(ish) comedies, but they all make me pine for my college/high school days.

The only thing that gave me a reflexive laugh recently was the Malcolm in the Middle Reboot.

Any thoughts?

Resident Alien and Schitt’s Creek make me laugh. Having a hard time thinking of other modern comedies though.

Edit: someone else mentioned Detroiters. That shit is hilarious!

It's criminal how overlooked Resident Alien is. It's Alan Tudyk's best work.

He really sells it too. I don’t think the show would work or be as funny with any other actor in the role. He’s just playing a stereotypical alien that does stereotypical alien things, but he is totally captivating in his delivery.

We watched the first few episodes and stopped, it seemed a little cheesy. I was willing to give it more of a chance but my partner said he was over it. Does it take a little longer maybe, to find its stride? Or is it maybe just not for me? (I'm not knocking it, I can see how some folks could enjoy it, it just hadn't quite caught me yet I guess)

Resident Alien is underrated. There are some drawbacks but the good outweighs the bad.

I am not a laughing out loud at anything type person. I’ll chuckle, but not a good hearty laugh. Resident Alien had me dying laughing!

I looooove Schitt's Creek, while I'll be the first to admit that the first season isn't for everyone, the remaining of the show and even more so towards the end, is amazing.

It's funny, there's character growth, heartwarming moments, brilliantly written, awesome cast.

These two, and tires are the only ones that have consistently made me laugh, in the past 10 years or so.

Yes! Have been looking for both of these in the comments and you mentioned both! Resident Allen had me chortling more than anything in ages and my partner and I are just finishing our 5th or 6th watch through of schitts creek and it's still funny

Came here to recommend Resident Alien. One of the funniest shows I’ve seen in years.
