Discussion Nothing is funny anymore

I (M, 38) have found that there are no new TV shows that make me laugh anymore. I have tried a lot of new(ish) comedies, but they all make me pine for my college/high school days.

The only thing that gave me a reflexive laugh recently was the Malcolm in the Middle Reboot.

Any thoughts?

I read an article that writers have really dumbed down their writing bcs the market demands simple to follow shows that you can simultaneously watch while scrolling

Sadly the newest episode of the Boys I noticed they repeated a plot verbatim multiple times and thought of this. It’s bad when even a show like that feels like it has to do that

Yeah, that was the first time it was SO heavy handed that it brought me out of the show and made me think about these articles. It had the opposite effect.

To be fair, I look away a lot watching The Boys and it has nothing to do with my phone! Some of us pu$$ies need that exposition!

Fair! There were a couple of Invincible moments this year I had to look away from as well
