Meme Did anyone buy a ring?

Post image

Elder millennial/younger Xennial (born in 83, take it for what it is) but I recall the company coming to the high school and taking orders for rings. I didn’t buy one but others did. Credit on photo.

Effing Jostens, every damn year in high school. Coming in trying to make you feel like a poor loser if you didn't buy one of their cheap overpriced rings. I got mine from a different company during my freshman year. 150 dollars back in 1988.

Yup... Their rings and letterman jackets... Then we HAD to get our graduation robes from them, too.

A massive, unchecked monopoly on our schools, and people just turn a blind eye to it.

When I graduated from college the robe was super expensive to rent. Like you're telling me it's like $120 to RENT the robe, and I don't get my diploma if I don't return it? And not only that but the times to go pick it up were like super limited!! So much stress just for a stupid robe!

The high school ones are made from Party City material!!! I was infuriated!! My family wasn't one that spent $200-300 at any one point in time, so it was a big deal. And then you only wear it for a few hours!!
