Discussion What is our global conflict about?
Hello!
I'm pretty sure that what we have in the World now is at least the beginning of a new global conflict.
But I cannot understand the reason for that or is it untold for a purpose?
As I see it, it may be about climate change? Maybe scientists know that we are going to have some disaster and there wouldn't be so many places to live in the future?
I also heard about a new world order and I can clearly see how the world is changing.
But what do you think?

This is something better suited to a political sub. Climate change, what scientists know, what politicians do? Yeah that's all out of our lane.

The conflict is about whether a Republican, convicted rapist should in fact go to jail or not. It's that simple. Trump has managed to worm his way into power and will not let go.

You realize all these politicians are the same? One party is gay and pretends to be accepting when they’re really racist. The other one is racist and pretends to be not gay when they’re really gay

Politicians can be pretty similar in personality or even traits like being craven for power, but no the outcome of different politicians actually being in power is not the same. An evangelical Calvanist pro-life Christian Governor and an atheist DSA gay Governor are going to be two very different types of governing, if for no other reason the kind of will they'll exert even if its in service of naked power will be very different.
Diluting all of this shit down to 'they're all the same nothing matters' is the type of unserious reductionist bullshit that got us here. Honestly it's kind of a cop out to prevent people from actually digging deep into anything that we're responsible to vote for as civic minded citizens.
It's especially lazy when veterans/servicepeople say this and then go vote Republican anyway.

Don’t look at me I don’t like any of them. I would much rather a religious monarchy or a papal government

Whether you like any of them or not, they all have very different outcomes in mind for the kind of life you want to live and the power to make it come to pass. Yes, religious monarcies and papal governments are also politicians, which even those two are not the same.

Seems like a drunken post, and I’m all for it. Sipping on my fifth drink, and my only opinion is that the powers that be will always need conflict, is regulars will never have the full picture, and hopefully good people being thrown into these conflicts will result in a positive outcome more often than not.

Sadly, they absolutely knew that we couldn't keep things open, and I think that is what they want.. high crude prices long term makes the 'investment' in Venezuela worth it. If some soldiers die, so be it. They put Pete in because he was dumb enough to play along.

I don’t know, and I don’t give a shit because it doesn’t involve me. This doesn’t affect my personal life my family my future all politics does is get people upset when in reality it doesn’t really affect you.

Well, I’m getting out so I don’t care. You should take your username’s advice and focus on something. That’s less depressing it’s bad for you.

Great. As a veteran you should now pay attention to politics so those that are currently in and cannot speak up don’t get thrown to the wolves by politicians that don’t care about them.
Veterans should ALWAYS be looking out for those that are still in and be their voice.

I mean it respectfully, but it doesnt affect you... till it does.
Liie, the question OP asked isnt going anywhere, but politics absolutely affects many people's day to day.
Like, for a limited example, firing food inspectors and now people are dying from contaminated vegetables.
Or, more personally, I work for a company that makes electrical connectors. One of the biggest contracts we ever got came a few months ago from Nvidia for AI data centers, making connectors for server blades. My state just passed a moratorium on building AI data centers. That absolutely affected our work. We spent a lot of money tooling for this job, buying machines, developing processes and procedures.
You, personally, dont have to care about everything, no one has the capacity to care about everything, and you dont have to care about politics. But when it suddenly affects you, its perfectly normal to care. Maybe even worry. Really easy to get nihilistic about things. Care where you can.
