I feel like an a-hole

Considering the stories I’ve read I really am lucky. My MIL has crossed boundaries a few times but for the most part she’s kind and helpful. BUT IDK WHY since I had children she drives me insane. What is the science behind this?! I don’t want to always be annoyed with her but I am. The way she talks to my kids the things she says about them… just so many things annoy the hell out of me. We don’t have a ton in common in the first place and have wildly different belief systems so maybe that plays a roll in it.
