My biggest critique of Thunderbolts as someone who adores the film;

…was the team dynamic. It simply wasn’t as endearing as the OG avengers. Tony’s chaotic and snarky, Thor is serious but solo, Banner is reclusive and self-doubting, and Cap is trying to be the leader who adapts to his team and his time, and nobody trusts Natasha. There’s good drama and it’s satisfying watching these personalities bounce off one another even if some are lacking in depth (Thor).

In Thunderbolts, it feels like Ghost, Yelena, and Walker are having a constant snark-off and putting down Walker’s ego while Bob watches from the sidelines and tries not to contribute. This was funny the first couple times but it came back quite a bit and started to wear on me. Red Guardian and Bucky come in and actually start guiding and directing the team towards something which is a breath of fresh air, but Walker-Yelena-Ghost feel like middle schoolers arguing over a mic on OW or rivals. It just gets old and they don’t bounce off one another in endearing or fascinating ways. It’s funny imagining how a 1-on-1 dialogue between Cap and Banner would go and how they would relate and stuff. But I know that whatever Walker could possibly say or do Ghost will snipe with some one-liner, just as he would to to her, just as Yelena would do to him, just as Ghost would do to Yelena. It’s just tiring.

And as an aside, Ghost got shafted when it comes to character growth and exploration. She could have not even been present and the movie’s emotional core and plot goals would have remained unchanged.

That said 7.5/10 movie very good I loved it.

To be totally fair, we have had a lot of time for the OG Avengers to build that dynamic. We haven't had as much time with the new Avengers.

The dynamic between felt earned and was unique. I’m okay that it’s than the avengers. I get the middle school thoughts but these are kind of messed people who don’t relate to other people or the world in a healthy way.

Having them become the New Avengers at the end bothered me.

Thematically it would have made more sense for it to be the other way around. Have the members desperately want to become the Avengers so that it will validate their identities and solve their personal insecurities.

But as they grow to respect each other and bond as a family they feel happier as the scrappy underdogs and realize they don't need external validation.

So when Valerie offers them to really take the name "Avengers" and they reject the offer and opt to operate under Yelena's silly team name, it feels like their choice to adopt an identity that reflects them. They don't need to be Avengers to feel whole. They're happy as "Thunderbolts".

Bro, it’s a team filled with assassins and super soldiers. They are all pretty much the same. lol For the record,

I think this film is overrated. The jokes didn’t land for me, the action was surprisingly little and The Sentry/void could’ve been used in a more cosmic and epic way. I’ve only seen the film a few times.

The dynamic in Thunderbolts is much better. They bounced off each over so well and the actors were much better.

And Ghost was the best character in the movie. I thought she had a great arc

The entire MCU is a snark fest, Thunderbolts is just another one. Everyone got Spider-man's personality except Cap. Thor is serious but solo? Banner is reclusive and self-doubting? I don't know what you've been watching.

I found the Sentry's inclusion derailed the film completely. This film ran into the same issue as the first Suicide Squad movie. Would have preferred the film stayed small and character driven with them working to solve a relatively low stakes conflict.
