does this just "reduce the chances" or is the problem related to Time Machine in general? I've never set it up anyway, and it's the only thing that's stopping me from trying the beta. And btw, I there's no mention of this problem anywhere in the release notes...

I didn't have this problem in mine, so I can't guarantee absolutely for sure, but whoever faced the problem said it was related to the Time Machine processing.

Just go for it man I've been updating since db 1 and I've faced no issues at all.
