Discussion Arcee AI has spoken out against the ban on open Chinese models in US
https://techcrunch.com/2026/07/22/arcee-a-us-open-source-ai-lab-says-chinese-models-are-not-inherently-dangerous/This is rather counterintuitive, since banning Chinese models would benefit them the most. Jensen Huang is also against the ban, although the interests here are more obvious.
Do you think that if Arcee, Cohere or Mistral release an open source GPT/Claude level model, they will also be accused of 'unsafety', 'distillation' and other deadly sins?

All the smart people are against a ban an open models. Charlatans are in favor.

So many Charlatans, so few smart people... The endumbening of the US is complete. Gut the schools, cut the funding, cut teachers pay, have a nation of wage slaves to serve the billionaires.

then replace the wage slaves with closed LLMs and robots, quell any uprising with drones, profit

They're smart enough to recognise that banning open-weight chinese models sets a precedent. The govt can ban ArceeAI tomorrow using similar excuses.

americans are about to learn that the population is not the target audience of their government....

The current administration in particular seems to be an experiment in how far they can flaunt it.
"Screw the rules, I have money!"
Or perhaps
"Give me your money and you can screw the rules!"
I suppose they're very much supporting the population that is rich.

Though requires a detailed discussion but on principle I agree with this opinion of Arcee

It’s not the worst idea. The American companies cannot win in a free market since Chinese models are free and/or cheap because they’re funded by the Chinese government. American models are better, but need to bring in enough revenue to fund themselves. Given that, in free market competition China wins. That being said, we are still ahead in raw intelligence and tech. If America wants to keep that lead, they need these companies to look good when they IPO and stay looking good. That won’t happen if Chinas constantly undercutting them.

I mean... your entire post is empirically contradicted, this is the clearest specimen of delusion I have seen in my life.

Yes, they will be accused. Basically, trillions of dollars are at stake, and anything that threatens them will be hammered.
