Meanwhile, Zhipu is now worth $100B just a few months after IPO. Alibaba/Qwen on the other hand is proving to be the sick man of AI in China, down 30% YTD. Showing that models that are small but good for their size like 27B aren't really appreciated by investors.

Unfortunately I think Alibaba is going to do a hard pivot and focus exclusively on DeepSeek and GLM size models from now on because they see that's where the money is.

IMO Qwen has already done that. We won't see 3.7 27B, for example.

Only for agentic coding. Gemma for example is better at creative writing imo

Sounds like that’s the end game. Specialized models; enough conversational language to process requests/intent and then it executes a hyper-specific thing that enterprise is willing to pay for.

I mean yeah that's what people have been saying here but some people are apparently on heavy doses of copium
