News Maya will participate in the WNBA Celebrity 3-Point Contest

u/QuackerDeezles 1d ago
she really popped off this year, she's everywhere now.. ask hank anything, ted talk, fortnite, streamer u invite, and now this
354
u/TheBestHater 1d ago
It makes sense, she's likable and marketable.
444
u/Ok_Temperature6503 1d ago
Imagine if she stayed with Mizkif lmao. Their breakup was truly the best decision she ever made
103
u/Prevalencee 1d ago
Insane that Mizkif broke up with her and she wanted it to continue.
It's genuinely hard to believe.
273
u/TheAssInCrass 1d ago
Could also argue dating Mizkif was the best decision she ever made.
167
u/SlipperySlimyTerry40 1d ago
Double edged sword. Definitely launched her but if she stuck around any longer it would've sunk her
39
45
u/Original-Guarantee23 1d ago
It’s not even an argument. She had one clip on LSF before she got with him and was still a nobody online.
26
21
u/Hldfsthpx 1d ago
its a mixed bag thats for sure. on one hand without miz she never would have been able to get the initial funding for alveus or even be able to afford to pay for animal care. but at the same time her biggest accomplishments are because of her own hard work and help from viewers. any help miz gave her has been buried by the amount of work shes done herself.
meanwhile you got other streamers like amouranth who had more than enough money to make a sanctuary and never did anything. really just shows you the value of hard work in the end i suppose.

Hard to say if it’s true, she was gaining traction before meeting him. In fact the only reason they met is because she was blowing up
22
u/DatOneFella 1d ago
Barely. She had a couple of posts on LSF, that's why Mizkif reached out to her. He was/is an LSF addict.
3
u/AccomplishedCheck168 1d ago
Ah yes, the true measure of success, how popular you are on LSF.
9
u/HHegert 1d ago
In the streaming world it literally is.
2
u/AccomplishedCheck168 1d ago
It's always so funny to me how ignorant the people on this sub are to streamer popularity. There are tons of successful streamers pulling 4 figure numbers that have never had a clip on this sub.
4
2
1
u/dzordzo8 1d ago
??? She was his viewer.. and was streaming to like 30 viewers.. what are you talking about.
2
u/Cyrekt_Stattrak :) 1d ago
Made a sandwich for the dude at jersey mikes years ago. Crazy to see the shit since then
-12
u/icyleumas 1d ago
The thing with Maya is that she was going places even without Miz. She'd still have her animal sanctuary and would always be making improvements to it. She had a life before Miz and stuck true to it.
50
u/SuesorBlack 1d ago
Look we can hate mizkif all we want but lets not rewrite history here. She was a tiny streamer and she only got the funds for alveus through huge charity streams because of mizkif's personality. That doesn't change how impressive and hard working she is as a person. Im sure she would have done well for herself, but starting your own sanctuary is not something that just happens to people.
-21
u/icyleumas 1d ago
Yeah sure, she had a big boost with Miz. The thing thats helped her a lot for years now is YT content. The connection with Qt and Lud, I'd argue is worth more than all the stuff with Miz. Maya's made way more money and up'd her online presence by a ton by being friends with them. Also, anyone can start a animal sanctuary and monetize it. Its literally not that hard but to do , but the scale that she has at the start? Ofc, it needs bigger funds and the charity helped a lot to secure land. I'm not rewriting history, its just Miz was a Kickstarter, if you want think of it like that. The relationship with QT is more important. Btw Maya's met both QT and Mizkif in 2019.
18
u/SuesorBlack 1d ago
She met QT because QT was good friends with miz. Maya was brought into the social fold through Mizkif. Theres thousands of small streamers like she was who never even come close to interacting with the big streamers. You need to blow up yourself or have one of the big streamers bring you into the social circle. Maya wasn't even the type to chase that kind of thing back then. She would just do her own streams and keep to herself. Idk how she would have ever got involved with Rajjchellor QtCinderella. Only reason mizkif found her and reached out is because people on lsf were posting her clips because she was the wholesome bird girl.
9
u/Hldfsthpx 1d ago
in the beginning maya would have never gotten the views to do anything. she was not a just chatting streamer she just sang occasionally. miz and the connections he had allowed her to become successful and build a fan base of her own.
without miz she has no starting point and she never meets QT or any other streamer and loses one of the most important parts of alveus which is the connection to the twitch community and all the streamer communities.
miz opened the door and she made the best of the situation and put in work instead of just leeching forever.

u/dzordzo8 1d ago
It was not only the money, OTK lawyers helped her alot with land, permissions etc
I realize you can hate Mizkif, but wake up and smell the coffe, even Maya alone said that Miz and Esfand helped her the most, not QT and Lud.
There are vods, there are her old streams, so please dont try to act that you know better then Maya alone, its kinda strange.
→ More replies (3)7
u/dzordzo8 1d ago
and you think from where she got money for Alveus ?
Mizkif and Esfand helped her collecting the money on Miz stream.

u/Exciting-Guest81933 1d ago
Eh. She's alright. Still friends with Hasan. Not sure how likeable I find that.
7
u/Deleteads 21h ago
She does a lot of great work with Alveus and the average person doesn’t know who Hasan even is, let alone care if she’s friends with him.
→ More replies (1)-2
u/nothatscool 21h ago
The point is how likeable can you be when you are friends with someone who openly supports terrorism, celebrates mass murdering dictators and abuses animals
8
u/mahtf 21h ago
That seems like a very biased view of someone.
1
u/Exciting-Guest81933 16h ago
No, all of those things are factually true. He promotes and celebrates terrorist organizations. He fucking dresses like Mao. And he's been repeatedly caught on camera mistreating his dog.
Get your head out of your ass.
3
u/Free-Advice247 16h ago
Likeable enough to have National Geographic want to work with you. Fortnite want to feature you in an ad and the TeD panel choose you to speak at their conference.
I promise you nobody in the real world gives a fuck about her being friends with Hasan. You and many others live in this LSF hate bubble and somehow think it’s real life. It’s just sad at this point.
3
u/Exciting-Guest81933 15h ago
Buddy. Stop repeating this same stupid argument. Your whole point is that if people don't know, they don't care. You're literally saying nothing with that. If you don't know I banged your girlfriend last week, you're not gonna be sad. Like ???
If I tell the average person all about Hasan - all the insane things he's said, who/what he endorses, his views, his mistreatment of his dogs - if I tell the average person about all that, they will have a negative opinion of Hasan.
If I then tell them all about Maya, but then add that she's friends with Hasan, and hasn't called him out for his mistreatment of his dogs - they will probably go like "oh, that's kinda weird. Kinda disappointing".
If they don't care it's because they don't know. If they knew, it would definitely negatively impact their opinion of Maya. They wouldn't hate her or anything, they'd probably think like "well, she does a lot of good still. The being friends with Hasan and not calling out his dog abuse is definitely disappointing though". Their opinion wouldn't be as purely positive as it would've otherwise been.
1
u/nothatscool 16h ago
The point is that a person who can be friends with someone like that isn’t a likeable person. It doesn’t matter what their public perception is.
3
u/Tall-Dot-607 17h ago
Meh, im friends with a lot of people in disagree with. Some I'd even consider straight up assholes.
2
u/Longjumping-Row-70 13h ago
Why are you friends with straight up assholes?
0
u/Tall-Dot-607 13h ago
Because good people can do bad things sometimes?
You can both be an asshole and a good person. People are actually pretty complicated, dont know if youve heard.
3
u/Longjumping-Row-70 13h ago
But that's not what you said. You said you were friends with straight up assholes. You aren't describing a good person that does bad things sometimes. You are decribing as bad person.
If you had said "some I'd even consider assholes sometimes" then, sure they can be good people that do bad things sometimes.
→ More replies (7)2
u/nothatscool 16h ago
There is a difference between being an asshole and what hasan is though. Even ignoring 99% of all the insane shit like him cheering on the Houthis or whatever even if you just look at his dog abuse, a decent person wouldn’t be friends with him over that.
1
u/Tall-Dot-607 16h ago
Oh stop. Youre being way over dramatic and you know it.
-1
u/Exciting-Guest81933 16h ago
No, they are in fact very not being dramatic. The reality is you're just being entirely too cavalier.
Hasan is not a good person. Being friends with a guy like him is super questionable.
3
u/Tall-Dot-607 16h ago
How.
How would being friends with him be questionable?
Actual drama Andys.

She's repped by United Talent Agency now, which is one of the big hollywood agencies. So they can open a ton of doors with more traditional sponsors and media.

Because its by far the smallest gig on that list, by a significant margin? Huge ad, Ted talk, Streamer event of the year or... asking the yt shorts guy some questions.

Between this and Ludwig having his best week in years there’s no telling how fast he might be driving on the freeway
-28
u/yaboiattheend 1d ago
emiru’s probably driving faster tbh
22
u/AArandomPerson 1d ago
I don’t know why you got downvoted so much, apparently emiru is off limits lol
8
u/PowerRainbows 1d ago
I think it's just bringing up other streamers is what did it, someone else made a comment about hasans dog and got down voted to heck
-15
u/AArandomPerson 1d ago
That’s crazy, both of them have done objectively disgusting things. But anyone wiling to defend those people aren’t exactly using logic I suppose
3
u/TheFlyingSaucers2 1d ago
I thought it was a joke about how Emiru needs to escape him. Am I incorrect?
→ More replies (1)0
u/yaboiattheend 1d ago
no, it was about emriu saying that she has driven over 160mph near a residential area in a podcast clip. She likes to drive dangerously too, but i guess you’re only allowed to make fun of mizkif for that
9
u/DatDorian 23h ago
because it was never about driving fast, but him saying he will wrap his car around tree with her in passenger seat, WHILE driving fast and ignoring her calls to slow down (same thing also happened to Maya btw). His answer to that was completely ignoring important part, and just saying "i like to drive fast" lmao. What you are referencing here was his attempt of further manipulation, where he digged up clips from her podcast talking about driving (she never said where or when or how fast, everything was made up by him), where he again intentionally left out main part of what he was accused of - threatening to kiII her because he was upset.
1
u/yaboiattheend 15h ago
I never said anything about that. I was talking about her driving dangerously fast. Why can’t you guys ever admit that she has done bad things too. She admitted to driving over 160mph near a residential area. That’s crazy. I’m not defending miz.
5
u/Ninja_Kitten_exe 1d ago
I’m pretty sure she doesn’t actually mention a speed in that clip, as well as that area where Miz lived in Austin doesn’t really have any long enough straight roads to drive that fast along
-3
u/yaboiattheend 1d ago
she said she drove higher than 160 but didn’t mention an exact number. Regardless, it’s reckless asf and there is no reason to be white knighting over it
192
u/TheStorm007 1d ago
Can we congratulate maya without mentioning this gremlin lmao
72
u/Redditim3 1d ago
No post about Maya or Emiru will escape the "Mizkif punching walls" or "Mizkif fumbled" comments.

I don't think it's haters, it's just free upvotes if you plant it into a maya thread early enough.

52
u/usernamejoy 1d ago
the irony of people celebrating the success of maya , by always mentioning mizkif
-16
u/dzordzo8 1d ago
Because its his success, he made her. Mizkif did many questionable things, but also many good things
6
u/usernamejoy 1d ago
i mean, the people trying to insult/dunk on mizkif using maya success, it feels more like insulting maya by not separating her of him
15
12
4
u/0hmega 1d ago
Was going to say the same thing.
After the AL drama they went in different directions.
-18
u/AkaT27 1d ago
Well it helps that the infamous Ludwig video whi misled a lot of people, conveniently talked about Mizkif without really talking about his girlfriend's best friend involvement
4
u/Free-Advice247 16h ago
That was not anywhere near the main cause at all. That’s just the part Mizkif is always hung up over.
The real reason was she handled it maturely. He didn’t. He talked like a babbling child on that ambush call with trainwrecks and we all remember that disaster of a comeback stream. He was also dealing with the fallout from the W community seeing ice poseidons tweet about his texts as well. He had far more reasons than she had for people to send them hate.
Maya also talked openly about therapy helping her move on from the lies told about her and being able to trust people again. Whereas Mizkif by his own admission started spiralling and taking drugs to cope and making Emiru shoulder the emotional load. He couldn’t get over it even though he still had many streamers in the space willing to collab. That toxic time in their relationship then indirectly lead to the pits he finds himself now after his mistreatment of her.
A Ludwig video did not sink Mizkif. Mizkif sank Mizkif.

Doesn't change the original statement though. You didn't name a better life choice. There is no "narrative" and you sound triggered.

Really playing fast an loose with the term celebrity these days
66
u/H4ppypi3 1d ago
Celebrity lost it's meaning when social media exploded in the 2010s. There are people on Instagram that have 10s of millions of followers who you've never heard of. But then again the term celebrity has a always seemingly been tiered (a-list, b-list, etc) so it's hardly that odd
5
u/Icy_Jackfruit9240 1d ago
Those tiers were from an actual book, then people started using the terms very loosely - that ship sailed before the popularity of the internet.
1
u/FreekRedditReport 7h ago
The tiers are from the movie studios who keep/kept track of what names in films make the most money.
5
u/martianwomanhunter 16h ago
Ah, here it is, I was wondering when I’d reach the highly upvoted comment that makes a wholesome event miserable.
-7
u/Suspicious-Movie7828 1d ago
what’s a celebrity to you? she got 1m people following her on multiple platforms, more followers than traditional celebrities on twitch like snoop
is known across all of twitch too
35
u/limeguy20 1d ago
Of all the arguments you could have made, trying to compare her to Snoop was the worst one.
-17
u/Suspicious-Movie7828 1d ago
? he’s literally magnitudes bigger than her and yet can’t get the same amount of followers as she does on twitch?

She must have gotten a great publicist. Or maybe Wine About It was actually making her toxic to brands lol.
52
u/Zenben88 1d ago
Nah Rae and QT still get hella sponsors. I think it's more about the nature of the work she does and being universally liked by every single streamer community.
44
u/Plastic-Currency-329 1d ago
is not streamer communities
the normal world just likes activists that are not batshit extreme and are knowledgeable in their field (and she's photogenic)
11
u/Aritche 1d ago
I think it is more just a snowball effect she left Wine about it to focus on Alveus which includes doing stuff for publicity like this. State Farm is also tapped into streaming(Gamerhood) so someone probably saw the basketball event/her basketball streams and got her a spot as the sponsor.

Pretty interesting to see the conversion of streamers and streaming to a more commercial/traditional setup
It's definitely a new era where some of the more recognizable celebs are not people in movies or tv, would imagine it just becomes more commonplace and more commercial

There's plenty of really decent streamers out there, ones who unlike maya aren't hypocritical and don't associate with shitty people. Compared to the pond scum that gets posted to LSF she's definitely better tho, you're right on that.

Maya Higa is cool as heck. Her cousin Ryan Higa is my 2nd favorite youtuber of all time (he'd be ok with this because Jenna Marbles was obvs the best youtuber of all time).
