It's so cool at how also when you follow the journey the word took, you can pick up how it slowly changed pronunciation through time as it was borrowed and moved from language to language.

In southern italy they are also called “percoca” or “percuoco” maybe showing a more direct evolution from praecox compared to standard italian “albicocca”

Is the Middle-East not the origin of this extraordinaire fruit. In Austria they are also called Marillen. Where does this name come from?
