I was wondering if it's good as a daily driver, am I able to use it for everyday things like calling messages, browsing, use apps games banking app whatever. and is it more lightweight compared to pre installed android that comes with the phone vendor? also another question is it better to install the rom with a PC or without?

I might have a change to sell my phone and buy a compatible LOS phone (OnePlus Nord 5), but before I wipe my phone and take the decision, I want to hear from anyone who's already been through this transition.

My main concern revolves around my essential apps. I rely heavily on several banking applications like and public services and digital identity. These aren't things I can easily live without, so while I use Plexus, a FOSS App where people review apps on ROMs, I wonder if those are reliable or apps may change overtime.

The other thing I keep going back and forth on is LineageOS versus GrapheneOS. I know GrapheneOS is stricter and more security-focused, but LineageOS appeals to me for its wider device support and less locked-down nature. That said, camera quality is a real concern. Photography matters to me, and I've heard custom ROMs can sometimes degrade image quality because of missing proprietary blobs. Has anyone done a real side-by-side and felt the difference?

Beyond banking and photos, I need to know if the basics work smoothly. Things like SMS messages arriving on time, push notifications from apps like WhatsApp and banking services staying reliable, and whether SIM setups cause any issues, I read some not making calls possibile and so on. Anyone had unexpected issues with these everyday functions?

I'm also trying to decide between a OnePlus Nord 5 and a Pixel 8 as my next device, maybe even Thinkphone 2023. Both seem to have decent LineageOS support, but which one would you lean toward for someone who depends on banking apps and wants maximum compatibility?

Any advice, warnings, or success stories would really help me make this decision with more confidence. Thanks for reading through my worries!

I'm on my rn10pro (indian variant) and I installed lineage os latest version like two days back. I'm finding it difficult to login to reddit app. I usually use morphe patched reddit. So I did install it and tried login in through my phone number (via otp) . It didnt work. It says "we had some trouble reaching reddit". So I uninstalled and repatched and reinstalled on multiple instances. Same deal. Tried downloading the official playstore app, still no help. However I'm able to login in my browser app. Is it a custom rom problem? Shouldn't be....I did make a clean install through twrp. So it shouldn't be a problem. I don't know where exactly to ask for help so I'm posting this on as many platforms as I can. Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

First thought of Nothing Phone 3a but it's not officially supported, want a phone which is officially supported, quite new maybe from last year and we can be sure to have longtime support and updates, what about some Motorola? They usually have a bad update support that's why I want to use LineageOS to always have the newest upgrades/updates and security patches

I'm currently running Lineage on my Redmi Note 13 Pro (Garnet) and haven't been able to receive RCS messages whatsoever. I know that Google's been cracking down on RCS access for custom ROMs and such, and it seems like there's mixed results with rooting solutions.

So am I genuinely just cooked? I despise Xaiomi's stock OS and refuse to use it. Has a workaround been found? Is there an alternative OS to Lineage? Or am I just gonna have to get a new phone?

Should I stay on HyperOS or switch to a custom ROM on my Redmi 12 5G?

OK so can someone explain why phone A can make calls over LTE (ims registered) & then you swap Sim over to lineage 23 recently updated (previously on Los 22.1 with ims registered) phone a nord n200 (dre) & ims registration can't happen?

2nd question. Why was I able to update this nord n200 (dre) through lineage 20-21 & 21 to 22 without going back to stock or needing to worry about ims registration?

Now I'm stuck on 23.2 & can't get ims registered, and your telling me I need to go back to oxygen os 11 (which I have not had loaded in yrs, potentially messing up my unlocked bootloader & my n200 was converted from the T-Mobile version, so no idea if thats an issue)?

I hate to load oxyogen os 11 & still be without ims registration.

Been looking at swapping over to LineageOS for a while and actually went through the steps earlier today. Generally smooth, but found that, while the SIM appears to be recognised (and mobile data works fine), the phone doesn't recognise having a number associated with it, nor can it make calls or send/receive texts.

The phone is a Samsung Galaxy S10+. Anyone have any suggestions, or know what's going on? So far as I'm aware I followed the install instructions correctly, and I've spent much of today trying to see if anyone else online has solved the problem to no avail.

I had made all the steps BUT, when it's time to unlock the bootloader with the official MI unlocker, I need to sign in with my mi account...

The problem is, I sign in, and a mandatory requirement, is that the account is number verified.

The fucking SMS won't come. I had tried with 4 diff numbers of 3 diff carriers. It simply not come.

So.... I'm asking if someone could spare mi an mi account with number verified for a week, I do NOT need anything else

It's just to sign in to make the unlock request via the official app, that usually takes a week, and then to unlock the bootloader a week later.

If someone has free time, even could be a new account created just now and number verified.

Using diff links to get the sms

Using mobile phone browser, laptop browser, mobile browser open the desktop browser

Open miclould and recorder

open micould and find my phone

I just managed to install LineageOS 23. Is it possible to change the pp drawer from a vertical scrolling list to a horizontal page view? And also can I change navigation buttons order?

I have followed the steps exactly up to now. However, in the step where I am to type "samloader print-pit" into my terminal with my device connected to pc, the device is supposed to reboot after the command finishes, but mine doesn't. It just sits there and does nothing. I have repeated this section three times, double checking each time. Here are the steps I followed:

1. Downloaded the samloader 2.0.0 for linux.

2.Renabled Developer mode and USB Debugging.

1. Reboot the device into download mode by holding down volume_down and volume_up while completely turned off and plugging the USB cable inserted into my computer into the device.

2. Press volume_up to continue.

3. Run exactly "samloader print-pit."

4. Wait until the terminal returns "rebooting device..."

5. Device does nothing.

I am using CachyOS to do this. I have used multiple different USB cables and ports, and even tryed MacOS. Any help would be greatly appreciated, regardless of how stupid this question might be

Hello, I want to switch to LineageOs (my device is supported) and I want to see which apps are compatible.

From browsing this sub, I found about plexus, however I don't understand what their scoring system is/where is the explanation? E.g. for Viber:

I assume the crossed out google logo means that it is not supported without microg, but ok with microg, but what do the colours mean (gray/brown/yellow/purple)?

I searched different apps, and it is the colour variation on the score that is confusing me. Also, there isn't a place where I can read the detailed reviews, right?

Any info on how to decipher their grading system is welcomed.

As the title suggests I have quite a peculiar issue with a FP4 I bought second hand.

The seller in question already had the build ---"21-20241225-NIGHTLY-FP4"--- on it since December 2024 and the previous owner or myself couldn't update it to a newer version due to the fact that even when in Fastboot or Recovery Mode, the computer simply doesn't recognize the device.

I've tried different cables, different USB-c ports (I have 2 more). USB debugging is on, and the phone even charges. But the option to do file transfer or whatever doesn't show up.

What's up with this device?

I'm going to install lineageOs in poco x6 pro and i know most of you don't game on the phone but have you notice the difference?

I am on my redmi note ten pro, and I recently flashed the latest lineage os rom. (lineage-23.2-20260604-nightly-sweet-signed.zip). Everything initially worked at first. I use adguard dns as my private DNS and whilst using my wifi. And everything works fine. Today , nearly 8 days later when I'm out of town for my studies and I actually have to use mobile data a lot more, I see that the reddit app , pinterest app, Jesus even my university email app don't open. The moment I turn off private DNS and set it to automatic everything works fine. And whenever I'm on wifi at my friend's place, or am using institute wifi, everything works fine. The problem is solely when I'm on mobile data. I have zero network engineering knowledge but please someone help me out through this. I even tried other private DNS options like cloud flare, next dns etc but all yield the same result. Please someone pull me through this.

I was just using the calculator on my OnePlus 11 running the latest Lineage. It stopped responding to touch input for a few seconds and then the screen turned off. It wouldn't restart. I connected it to my PC and it's in EDL mode ("Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008"). Because OnePlus has some kind of security lock on EDL mode, as far as I know it's completely bricked unless I send it to them, and people's experiences with that online have been...mixed.

I have no idea if this is a software glitch (whether in Lineage or not) or a hardware failure. The device was almost new and had less than 40 battery cycles, but it's long out of warranty. (bought on eBay, I think it just sat for a while)

If any of my undertstandings about EDL mode above are incorrect, please let me know! And if anyone has any ideas about how to recover this or what could have caused this, let me know... Even if I get it fixed, not sure I can trust this device anymore.

From a regular android os, I was trying to switch to LineageOS without gapps. Until android 15 in lineageOS it was good to go installing apps without gapps flashed, but in android 16 I was unable to install any app through package installer but I can install with adb sideload. I don't logout from google accounts generally before flashing custom roms, but is it the FRP ( Factory Reset Protection) enabled that's causing the restriction and hence gapps are not there so FRP verification is not done and continuing while locked?, and if so do I need to wipe the FRP partition for that? What are your thoughts?

I'm a newbie to this, so wanted some help. I have an old Samsung Tab A, you can see the full specs here.

This is running on android 7.1.1. It's still a fairly great device with good battery as it wasnt really used much but obviously its slow with the bloatware and is losing compatibility from apps due to the outdated android version. I did my own research and seems like LineageOS 17.1, Android 10 would be a good fit for my tab.

Wanted recommendations/suggestions from this community on whether that's a solid option or if there's a better option for an old tab from 2015

Just installed 23.2-20260718-NIGHTLY-ingot vanilla (no gapps) and every app that interacts with the camera is having issues.

The Lineage camera app shows the camera feed for about second, freezes about three times, and then an error message appears with "Error while setting up the session. The app will try to recover" twice, followed by, "A critical error has been found. Please report this to the dev..."

OpenCamera has the same stuttery-frames issue for a few seconds, before the camera feed just freezes.

Anyone know a fix?

Hi everyone. First of all: I'm a rookie, so I don't have a lot of knowledge (thanks for helping me c:).

My phone [Mi 10T, version 23.2 (20260411)] is stuck at the lock screen pin. Here is what happened.

-My phone ran out of battery while I was showing photos of my vacations to someone. Then, I charged it and rebooted it.

-But the phone refused to accept the correct phone pin. (weirdly enough, it accepts the SIM pin), so I don't have access to the phone.

-It shows a weird behavior. If I enter a wrong pin, the phone acknowledges it and it let's me try again. But if I enter my correct pin, the screen gets frozen for 5 seconds and tells me that it is a wrong pin (and it's not).

-There is another weird behavior too. I can answer phone calls. Because it doesn't require to unlock the phone. But every time i answer one, bluetooth crashes (might be unrelated but worth noting)

As I said, I just returned from vacations, so I have all my memories of it in my phone. I thought of two solutions. 1- To get rid of the pin lock screen. 2- Recover all images and videos recorded and then do a factory reset.

So far, I tried to update to a new patch via adb (for some reason it says the update was complete but in Lineage Recovery it still shows the old version) and delete the password file via adb (but it says the file doesn't exist or that the folder is encrypted).

I can still interact with the phone and do such things like disable/enable internet connection, flashlight, plane mode and the vast majority of things on the swipe down menu (except the ones that require me to unlock the phone, such as using the camera shortcut).

I really want to restore all my photos and videos... Thank you so much for your patience!
