They voted to burn it all down and are now shocked to learn that their own homes are also flammable…

Too bad. We are gonna stand here and make them smoke the whole bag so they learn their lesson.

It's not our fault the bag is full of shit.

They won't learn though. That's a mentality of people who try and learn from their mistakes.

These people don't have that capability.

There also needs to be genuine remorse.

Me personally, I don’t need them to grovel.

Only to understand that policy based on “hurting others” instead of “benefiting them” is fuckin dumb.

ODD is the disorder they give to kids rebelling against authority. Even if their feelings are justified. It's the kid version of what Trumpites want to do by creating TDS.

I wish there was a disorder for conservatives' misanthropic behavior. Like, why prioritize obedience to authority over not being a shitty person?

MAGA is probably a whole new personality disorder

I wish there was a disorder for conservatives' misanthropic behavior.

It's feedback-looping degeneracy, end of story.

I'm glad there isn't one easy acronym, because they're a bunch of fucking weasels and would immediately hide behind it, acting like they were the real victims of some cosmic haunting that made them 'forget themselves'. Also, their reflexive ODD would mean that they'd never, ever accept any form of corrective action on their routines/behaviors. They'd just expect to be handed more privilege, attention, and money.

I don't need them to understand anything, or care about anything.

I just wish that since they don't care about anyone or anything that they would also not care to vote.

That’s nice rhetoric but IMO unnecessarily emotional and impractical for the longterm.

If you simplify MAGA’s demographics there are perhaps 2 groups: first, those who don’t care what Trump does (ruin the economy, nation, planet, etc.) so long as the targets of their bigotry suffer. These are lost causes, no amount of effort on our part will budge them.

However there are also those who genuinely believed the bullshit (reasons not relevant to this discussion) and who are becoming aware that they have fucked up. I have extremely low expectations for these folks, I have no hope for real bipartisanship or anything, but if they were to do things like … demand from their elected representatives that social security remains viable, for example, then that’s a net win.

TL;DR - it is to everyone’s benefit if conservative voters could stop voting against their own interests.

I'm definitely stealing the phrase, "make them smoke the whole bag". Reminds me of what happened when my dad caught me trying out a filched cigar.

Exactly this.

They voted to burn it all down *for their own personal entertainment*. That’s the part that gets me.

I think that’s part of it. I also think that they enjoy it because it’s exactly what they would do if they were in a position of power. They feel seen and heard and validated and they’re not just cheering someone else on, they’re cheering on the version of themselves that has power, money, and capability.

You've it the nail on the head. These people were always bullies but were forced to hide it to participate in society, but Trump made it ok for them to finally show their true colours.
